I had just purchased the house and it was in bad shape. We wanted to tear out all the old carpet as a first step since it was horrible, and then just replace carpet in the bedrooms since we were living in the house through the renovations. I got what I paid for with the carpet but the pad was the thinnest I had ever seen. I wasn't given much of a choice in padding, but if I had it to do over I would have cancelled right there. The workers Randy sent were ok at best. I did pay extra for the carpet removal where I was not replacing carpet, including in the basement and in two staircases. The carpet was pulled up and a lot of the staples and chunks of carpet and pad left behind, more than I would have expected. One of the stair treads was broken in the process, the whole bull nose was broken off. Rather than telling me about it the men put the piece outside and didn't say anything. I only noticed it after they left. When I called Randy about it, he was very defensive and said that it must have been cracked already and he couldn't be responsible. I didn't expect much, but an "I'm sorry that happened" would have gone a long way. I had no idea who to call to get it fixed, but eventually found someone and the repair ended up costing me well over $100 with parts and labor. Included in the cost that I paid Randy was a stair runner for one set of stairs (14 steps) which I never received. That was partially my fault because after the install I said I didn't want it and even though he had not cut or bound it yet, I didn't go back and request a price adjustment. Randy is well respected here in town and works with a lot of the tradespeople. I just had a less than stellar experience.

We had used Randy's prior to this to buy and install new kitchen flooring and knew they do an excellent install. When we decided to replace most of the carpet in the house, we went back to Randy's and found the wood flooring we wanted. This time their salesman seemed somewhat impatient and disinterested. We ignored him because we knew their products and installers are good.
When the floors were installed, we had two men here an entire day putting the flooring in the den, dining room, living room and back hallway. They finished up quite late in the day, around 7:30 pm, but they made sure it was done right, and we have never had one problem with the floors popping or anything else. Same with the kitchen floor, which is now probably 18 years old, or the carpeting we had installed the same time as the wood floors.
I have no problem recommending Randy's for all your flooring needs. You will pay a little more than at a big box store, but the quality and install expertise definitely are worth it.

They came out twice to ensure measurements were proper. They installed with no delays. The price was very competitive. They were very responsive.
