Pepper Heating and Air replaced the control board of my HVAC system in December 2019. However, the control board recently burned out, and upon inspection by the contractor from my home warranty company, it was determined that the control board was the wrong type and improperly wired. Here is the diagnosis from the home warranty company's contractor: "We verified with a Bryant dealer, who confirmed that your control board model number is not in their system. They also confirmed with our technician that it is not compatible with your furnace. The current control board burned out and needs to be replaced for further diagnostic purposes. It is designed for ECM motors, whereas your system has a regular blower motor. It appears that whoever worked on your system bypassed the blower motor wiring and connected it directly to the power source, which caused it to run constantly." I reached out to Pepper Heating and Air to request technical information regarding the control board and its installation to defend their work. I hoped to obtain details such as the control board type, SKU code, and specifications to present to the home warranty company. I want to clarify that I never mentioned warranty coverage or requested a refund. However, in their response, the "Office of Pepper Heating and Air" threatened me, stating, "We don't owe you any warranty or refund. If my name is mentioned in any review or BBB complaint, you'll be hearing from my attorneys for slander." It's worth noting that my intention in contacting Pepper Heating and Air was solely to request information and give them the opportunity to defend themselves against the home warranty contractor's report. In their response, the Office of Pepper Heating and Air spent a considerable amount of words criticizing the home warranty company and its contractors, referring to the home warranty route as a "complete rip-off" and suggesting that contractors deny claims to make a profit. This leads me to question who is engaging in slanderous behavior. As the result for Pepper Heating and Air’s response, I am taking the home warranty contractor's findings seriously and believe it warrants further investigation. Below is the response from the Office of Pepper Heating and Air in its entirety. THE OFFICE OF PEPPERS HEATING & AIR 11:59 AM (3 hours ago) to me Our warranty runs one year on all parts during our service process. If anything and I mean anything is wrong in that one year , we will be happy to come back out and repair, replace the part, or make any adjustments to the system and honor the warranty for an additional year. It's been 5 years and we haven't heard a peep out of you or your system. You opted to go the Home warranty route which in this industry it is well known that its a complete rip off because they are going to deny all claims. We do not work with home warranty companies because of this. The companies that come out have to deny your claim so they can actually charge and make some money. We have been in business for over 45 years and have a 4.9 google rating. We know what we are doing and we do not appreciate getting accused of putting "the wrong board on" if it was bad it wouldn't have worked for 5 years let's get real. We don't owe you any warranty or money back. If my name gets mentioned in any review or BBB I promise you'll be hearing from my attorneys for slander. Once again it's been 5 years, that's 2019.......don't call me or worry me again about this board, you joined thousands of others here in Ga to learn the hard lesson of a home warranty company. Even if our board went out, guess what you'd have to buy another board because they are not under warranty for 5 years......one year only! I wish you the best of luck PEPPERS HEATING & AIR 4109 Robinson St NW Covington, GA 30014 770-483-1282

It was wonderful. I told them I'd be calling them back in a year. Mike was very efficient. He was a little late but he called me to let me know. He also gave me a lot of information regarding my heating and cooling system. I would highly recommend them.

Technician was timely and very professional. He listened when I shared my concerns about out system. He educated me a little on my system, explained what needed doing (before he did it) and explained what he had done once the work was completed. We would definitely use them again!

The service representative showed up early for his appointment- a big plus! He was professional. He went about his business and gave my heating system a through check. Couldn't ask for better service. I will use these folks again on a future project.

When I returned from a business trip later that week I learned that the problem had returned the following day, Peppers said they would refund my money. They never sent the money and now it has been three weeks. That should have been adequate time.

The problem turned out to be a bad thermal expansion valve and was found by Blessed Air and Heat who has an office in Lawrenceville. In my opinion, Peppers did a poor job of troubleshooting and seemed to be in a hurry to leave. A poor performance from Pepper. I had expected much better from them with all the good reviews from Angie's List.

The first technician identified the problem and realized fit hat it could not be fixed properly without additional help. Two more technicians came out to the house and fixed the problem. I was very pleased with the way the way the job was handled and the professional attitude all the technicians took in their attempts to fix the problem.

It went well except they did NOT honor the coupon I printed from Angie's List. They said I would have to contact Angie's List to have the correction made. Most business would have honored the coupon since it doesn't have an expiration date and I told them I just printed this 3 days ago.
Response from Peppers Heating & Air Conditioning
"Sorry about the confusion on the cupon, r22 quadrupled in matter of days, amd the cupon was supposed to be taken down. Two pounds four 149 is a great deal! I would be willing to negotiate a discount on you next repair. Thanks!"

I declined the optional test and accepted his offer to recharge my system which he guesstimated would carry me through the summer. Aaron promptly rechared my ac unit and explained what was done (again). He honored the Angie's list coupon which saved me $40. I would use and recommend Peppers'.
