Gutter Works

We had our gutters removed and replaced and installed leaf guards. Donnie was very professional when he came out for an estimate. He explained the whole process and discussed his crew that would be on the job. The very polite, hard-working guys showed up on time and never stopped until the job was completed! Long, hot day for them and they were still smiling and thanking me as they left. The gutters look great and we are very pleased with the overall experience! I have already referred them to others, and will continue to do so.

Nevardo does excellent work! It is easy to see that he aims for perfection. Nevardo worked in front while the other crew worked in the rear of the house. Every leaf guard that Nevardo installed was perfectly aligned and the overlaps were flush. Not so in the rear! After the crew left, in addition to bad overlaps in the leaf guard, I also noticed that the siding was displaced where the rear crew had put their ladder. I called Gutter Works and they immediately sent Nevardo over. What impressed me was the when Nevardo came to fix the siding, he immediately saw an error by the previous crew. The installation of the leaf guard was not complete on the highest part of the house (in the rear)! Even after Matt and I did our walk-around, nether he (Matt) nor I saw the mistake. If Nevardo had not seen that mistake, I would have unknowingly had a missing leaf guard on my gutter forever. Nevardo did all the repairs (including fixing the overlaps) to his quality and I can’t even tell anymore that there are overlaps in the rear of the house. Thanks Nevardo!

Gutter Works is an example of how a service business should be operated. They did a great job cleaning the gutters and there was absolutely no mess left on the lawn or shrubbery below. The crew arrived early on the scheduled day and were completely professional.

We had a lot of rain that week so the guys came late at night to fit us in. They did a very good job and the cost seemed very fair.

Great. Looks great. GW was helpful in reassuring me about the grey color of the shingles and how it'd look once on the roof, when I saw the shingles before installation and worried that they might be too dark. I have engaged GW for another job through Angie and will be having that done soon.

I tried two other companies and one couldn't answer the phone, another had to send a salesperson.  Donnie answered my phone call on the first try, scheduled the guys for the next day and gave me a price over the phone.  Two men showed up early, went right to work and finished in an hour.  They did a great job and cleaned up after.

Since the property is a rental, I was not there to note how well  they were performing.  When the tenants moved out, in July, I noticed that leaks persisted to the point where the basement flooded when it rained heavily.  To date, the leak at the bottom of the deck persists.
I contacted gutterworks to fix the persisting issues, but they never returned my calls.  Therefore,  I hired another contractor to fix the gutters in the front in early July to alleviate the leak into the basement.  I called gutterworks again to fix the dripping on my deck but they refused to fix it.  I even offered to pay for them to fix the leak and seal all the seams but I can hardly get a return phone call  or email from the owner.
My advice is to stay away from gutter works.  They are worthless.

Donnie Hammond came out to the house around Aug 12, 2014, he was running late and called and asked did I want to cancel the appointment for this date, I should have done so, he had a doctor's appointment he did not get to keep as he mentioned to me so that rather started things off negatively.  I  continued by walking him around the house and trying to ask him questions that I had written down, trying to make it clear about certain specifics, i.e.,not to scoot the ladder and to be careful of ladder prints as the house had recently been painted on the exterior.  I asked to have the HVAC units covered up and the balustrades as they also were recently painted, I personally had to keep watch and inquire if they were going to do these things I had asked initially, it seemed to be an issue so I covered them myself. I also asked Donnie to inform his men of the irrigation heads, they paid no attention to them at all. I also asked to have rugs placed under the ladders on the back patio because of the clay tiles, this is another chore I had to do.

The gutters leak at the seams probably in about the best I could count when raining eight places, some started less than a month after installation as time has continued there is more and more seam leakage.  In addition, on the left side of the house facing the street the gutter in one specific bulges out. 

I had to keep asking the crew if they were going to clean when the old gutters were removed, it was difficult to get them to do so, rest assured they were not going to do one thing extra.

The job took longer than I was initially told and I was also told by Mr. Hammond the names of the three men who would be working at the house, I wrote them down, one he named was Josh who did not show up, I later found out he had been in the hospital but I was not informed until much later, Josh did show up on the last day of the job and I must say he was by far the best man they had working here, he was courteous, had a good work ethic, mannerly, I just wish he would have been here throughout the job but this is a lesson learned, I would not hire anyone again if the employees mentioned by the owner did not show up on the job and stay through completion.  I fault Mr. Hammond in this regard.

What happened to Port-A-Let's, restroom issues should be the domain of the employer and his employees and I did not appreciate the fact I literally saw the lead man urinate on the side of the house, I should have ran them all off then.

Last but not least Mr. Hammond came out to the house to see what the hold up was in completing the job, he never bothered to ring the doorbell and inform me of anything which should have been a common courtesy.

After reading Mr. Hammond's response, yes I expected the job to be done professionally, if to use his words "I had high expectations", yes I expected the job be done properly, if it were there would not have been leaks, why would I call you back if this is the kind of work you do.  If your men had done the job properly (with the exception of Josh) you would not have had a complaint, that is your problem and using the side of a person's house to urinate is totally unacceptable. Actually very gross. 

I found Mr. Hammond very difficult to communicate with, it was his way or not way, I gave him directives to add to my contract, he never paid them any attention.  I know what I experienced and I would never want them on my property again.
