We know your pets are an important part of your life, and that is why we dedicate our time, knowledge and services to the compassionate care of your best friends. Weems Road Animal Hospital has been serving the Columbus, Georgia community since 1976. We are a full-service small animal hospital that offers comprehensive medical, surgical and dental care, and emphasizes preventative medicine. We provide a broad spectrum of diagnostic procedures through in-house testing and the use of external laboratories. We also work closely with local specialists and referral centers when advanced diagnostic or surgical procedures are required. Our facility includes a well-stocked pharmacy, in-house diagnostic laboratory (CBC, Chemistry profile, Electrolytes, Clotting profile), in-house x-ray, and surgery suite. We take her to Dr. McDermott once a month to check the pressure in her eye.  He's been treating our dog for about 4 1/2 years.  He referred us to Auburn Vet School to try out different medications.  He called and got us an appointment the same day.  They have removed one eye and they will have to remove the other eye, but we're trying to prolong that as long as possible.  The treatments have gone as well as can be expected.  They even recommended reading material to assist us with our dog.  The office staff is also very efficient.

My two dogs love Dr. McDermott. He is very sweet and gentle with our fur babies. He works with us to find affordable options for their care and is compassionate when delivering bad news. I recommend him to all my friends. His vet assistants are all very good with animals and I wish I could go to THEM when I need blood drawn. They are that good. I really love that there is a Cats side and a Dogs side to the waiting room... they are separated completely by his office staff's office. My dogs stay calmer this way. They have white noise makers in the exam rooms to fuzz out the other office sounds, and this works so well that I bought one for at home. My dogs aren't fearful of the vet at all.

I have been going to Weems Road Animal Hospital for years. My dogs are my children, and the care they receive from doctor McDermitt is always excellent and professional. He takes the time to answer my questions and explain my pet's health to me. He's very informative and patient.

Well, all he did was tell me to change her food and give her a steroid shot.... For about 200 bucks!
I was shocked at the price, but paid intending to never go back. I go to northside now.

They are excellent. Both the veterinarians have been excellent. The current veterinarian is great. The office staff is good. It is very easy to get an appointment there. They take care of us properly when we go there. They are very safe. They separate dogs and cats before treating them. They let us keep our dogs aside because they have so much energy. They call us during our turn. They work with the customers and owners very well. They charge us $70 to $100 depending on what we are having done. We like the people there. They take good care of our dogs. The facility is clean. We will use them again in the future.

The original vet who we've had since 1984 just retired so we have another one now. We have odd dogs and he treats them very nicely. I haven't been to another vet, but we are satisfied that we are getting what we pay for. He always has coupons for discounts when we order heart worm medicine. He makes sure we order that way and get a rebate.
