"Hi, and thank you for the excellent review. It was a pleasure working with you and hope we can do more business soon. Ronnie"
I called Ronnie after finding his business on Angie's List. He returned my call within 10 minutes. He came over to the house that evening. He got back to me within a hour. Gave me a quote, we negotiated a little and settled on a fair price and day to start. I requested that he do the work himself. He had no problem with that. He showed up when he said he would be here. It took him 2 1/2 days. He is definitely a Master Painter. He is fast, neat and has a good attention to detail. Uses drop clothes and removes switch plates and light fixtures that were hanging on the wall. And cleans up every night before leaving! He even takes his brushes with him to wash them at his shop. So no cleaning up in the backyard with our garden hose. I highly recommend Ronnie. Both my wife and I were very satisfied with Ronnie's service and quality of work. The next time I need painting done, I will only be getting one quote; one from Ronnie.
"Thanks so much, A real pleasure to work for you. Look forward to future projects."
I saw Ronnie on the same day that I called him and he quoted the cost of painting our houses. I felt that his quote was very reasonable and asked him to come back and paint for us.
He was finishing up painting another house but he returned to paint for us immediately after completing the other job. He is very thorough and efficient in his work. He completed the job(s) in a very timely manner and we are well pleased with how everything looks.
"I told you that the facia with the most paint buildup would have to be replaced to be perfectly smooth and as far as the paint peeling, you picked the type paint that you wanted, I can't do a warranty on somebodys paint that I don't recommend! And as far as the windows, they were already painted shut before I ever started. So sorry that you feel the way you do. But I know I tried my best to fulfill your every demand."
The original estimate was the final price. Work was done with minimal disruption and zero complaints from the 35 town house owners, they did what they said they would do when they said they would do it.
The work area was always clean and neat.We (the Association Board ) got four bids, three from Aggies list, The bids ranged from $1400 a building to $4200 a building with Area Painting being the low bid. Work completed July 3, 2014"Thank you, We really appreciate your business."
A few days later, he came and pressure washed my house. (It looked totally different just by doing that.) Then, the painting began. Both Ronnie and his team of painters were very professional and thorough. Their hand-painting of the windows was very precise and careful. It took about 5-6 days to complete the entire job from pressure washing to finish due to a couple weather interruptions.
He also acquired new shutters for my windows and installed them.
The job costs broke down this way:
The cost of the painting was $2,800.
Installation of the shutters was $60
The shutters (provided at cost) were $267.87.
I would definitely use his company again.
"Thanks so much, it was a real pleasure working for you."
"Thank you so much, I appreciate your business and look forward to serving you again."
"I never heard of this person!!!!!!!!!!???????????"
Area Painting-
1. Easy to work with
2. Estimates are accurate
3. Gets the job done to your needs
4.Fixes and problems you find
And does all that with a great service attitude, on time, to quality and timeline you set. I could not have been more pleased and I am pretty tough on contractors I use.
"Thanks, It was great working for you."
But, due to some stressful personal circumstances that came up for me in the middle of a huge remodel, I decided to take some of the stress off myself by hiring a pro to paint our new, open living room/dining room/kitchen area that has been created by the remodel. I did this so I could not have to worry about the details (such as how to deal with painting over oil-based paint on my trim) and so the place would look fantastic. I had hoped a pro would do a much better job than I could.
When Mr. Fuller came to give the estimate, he was very picky about pointing out flaws in the drywall that needed to be touched up. Based on his pickiness and attention to detail when he gave the estimate (including criticizing the brush strokes in the one coat of primer I had put on) I thought he was as picky and detail-oriented as I am, only more skilled, and I had total confidence he would do a fantastic job.
However, that did not happen. Before Mr. Fuller started, I walked through and went over what he was supposed to do, and I mentioned I had not gotten all the wallpaper paste off from the wallpaper border I had removed. He assured me he would clean it off. (I assumed as a pro he'd have TSP or similar handy and it would be a snap.) I also again mentioned the oil-based trim and told him I'd bought a water-based primer that claims to bond to oil. I assumed he would scuff sand it as every single pro I've seen comment on any professional painting forum has always said scuff sanding is essential on a shiny oil finish.
Mr. Fuller said he wanted to spray on the primer to get a better finish, so I agreed. I told him he didn't need to cover the plywood subfloors. However, spray residue got everywhere in my house, including on an antique doorknob I love and on windows. I had a horrible headache all day from the fumes. On top of that, it did not create a better finish. The finish was terrible and uneven with huge drips everywhere -- much worse than my priming brush strokes Mr. Fuller had pointed out during the estimate phase. In some places, the primer was so thick that it did not adhere well and I ended up scraping off the thick parts, which were so thick that they could actually be peeled off. Mr. Fuller also sprayed my shiny oil-based trim without scuff sanding first. The primer did not adhere well for that reason, and it can be scraped off with a fingernail. This creates a huge hassle for me as I have to either sand it all off or hire someone to do so.
Mr. Fuller also said he cleaned off the wallpaper paste as requested, but the area where the wallpaper was is lumpy and uneven and I can see it has not been cleaned. So, the wallpaper paste now has a layer of primer on it, creating another headache for me to try to clean up.
I can honestly say I'm not sure I'll ever hire another professional painter again as I have no idea how to find one who is as picky as I am but more skilled. I can do a lazy prep and so-so paint job myself, for free.
I explained the problems to Mr. Fuller and he was very nice and apologetic about it. He offered to hand-sand off all the primer he put on the trim, and said it would take all day. He also said the $850 estimate he gave me was just for painting, while I assumed a painting estimate would include prep because everyone knows prep is a huge part of a nice-looking paint job. I would have at least assumed Mr. Fuller would have told me what needed to be prepped before he arrived if he wasn't going to do prep. Because the final product reflects on him. Then we could have negotiated a higher price from there for prep to be included.
I offered Mr. Fuller the option to stop the job, cut both of our losses and I would pay him for the work already done. He ended up not accepting any payment from me, which I thought was very nice and showed that he has integrity and cares what customers think. However, why not insist on including prep in every estimate and making sure your skills and technique are up to par to satisfy even the picky customers?
I was very leery of hiring a painter and now I am not sure I'd trust anyone. I'm not sure what I'm going to do to fix the errors that were made, and I probably have a long weekend of work ahead of me. I'm very disappointed.
"I thought we had an understanding that your drywall man would come back and fix any issues with the drywall. I was there with my helper when you voiced your concerns and I was willing to fix what you was not satisfied with, BUT you wanted us gone so how can we do anything when people don't give us a chance!!!! It's unfair to me and my company when people start changing their minds midstream.."
We immediately noticed that very little attention was being given to detail. Walls were not prepped adequately (if at all) and his "lines" were about as strait as an ocean surf. Both my wife and I pointed out these issues to Mr. Fuller on two separate occasions. Mr. Fuller did correct the specific issues we pointed out, but moving forward, paid no more attention to detail (wall prep and fine paint lines) as he moved forward with the job.
For $2500 we felt we should not have had to "manage" this professional painter. The completed job was below average, and certainly not a $2500 paint job. We were severely disappointed. Unfortunately, I would not recommend Mr. Fuller for hire.
"Sir, This was a RE-PAINT, NOT A RE- MODEL OR RE- FINISH, we surface sanded all the walls, we were not hired to paint the trim, just walls only! And You shook my hand and Said" GREAT JOB RONNIE"? Then this kind of review??"
"Thank you, It was a real pleasure to work for you. Thanks for the HONEST comments."
"Thank you for the HONEST comments, a pleasure to work with people like you."
"Thank you, I appreciate your business."
crew showed up on time and day expected, went right to work and worked all day until job was done.
only reason I gave a B to quality was I had to go around and touch up a few places.
Outside work - pressure washed and sprayed bleach on all areas to be painted. Come back 3 days latter; arrived @ 9am ( the appointed time), left @ 3pm ( agreed upon time -it gets hot in this part of AL in the afternoon.) ; they returned the next morning and finished . They covered all the plants and concrete for protection.
They arrived on time, worked, cleaned up, were friendly ( remember this is the South, people are congenial) but not overly so.
I would use them again.
"Thanks [member name removed], your house looked so good, got a lot more to paint in your neighborhood."
