Furnace is located in attic, contractor ask that I install decking to give him better access. Contractor did fall through a secondary access panel into walk-in closet suffering several broke/cracked ribs.
Response from A PLUS HEAT & AIR
"Furnace is located in attic, contractor requires customers provide walk boards/decking in any attic for access to the heating and air conditioning unit prior to entrance. Customer did provide walk boards however, neglected to inform contractor another scuddle hole was located in the attic which was completely covered by insulation and camoflaughed and was not secured with walk boards. Contractor completed the installation of the gas furnace when a final measurement was needed which was difficult to achieve. While attempting to get the final measurement to complete the job, the Contractor stood on a piece of plywood which appeared to be secure but was actually a cover for a scuddle hole which was located in the Master Bedroom closet. The piece of plywood appeared to b secure but was only attached by molding attached from the inside of the closet. There was only a split-second before the plywood fell through causing the contractor to fall through the hole, onto a shoe rack and finally, the floor of a closet. The area was not safe and should have been covered by walk boards initially. There is no possible way the contractor or anyone else could have known that hole was there unless someone told them, especially since it was covered up and hidden from the attic side. It was an accident which could have been prevented had proper walkboards/decking been placed throughout the attic for complete access to the heating unit. Contractor did suffer 3 broken ribs and a sprained wrist and was on bed rest for 8 weeks and could not work. It is the customers responsibility to provide access and a safe working environment for all HVAC equipment. Contractor and tech went over and beyond the call of duty for this job and deserves more than a grade of "C". I don't think it was the intentions of the customer to harm our company when he posted this. I believe his intentions were meant to indicate our company did a superb job installing his furnace in spite of an unavoidable accident. Please review this response and make necessary changes."

I called them about 1:00 pm. They were here by ~ 3:30 pm and in less than an hour completed the inspection and recharged one system.

The air conditioner fan stopped working at 5p.m. after I had just gotten home from surgery. It was 100 degrees outside. They stated they were in the neighborhood, and they were at my house within the hour. They fixed it in a flash! They were very nice and quick to respond. I would definitely recommend them. Very professional!
