"LeafFilter doesn't clean gutters, they sell and install their LeafFilter Gutter products and only clean the gutters if you buy their product. I can't even begin to afford their product so I wasn't able to get my gutter cleaned by them."

"Robert and Steven did a great job installing gutter guards.on my metal roof. Robert also sealed some cracks in my roof, and told me some things to watch for as the roof aged. Overall a fast and efficient job. I highly recommend Robert Hill and his company."

"Owner Steven Bryant replied to our online query really fast. He called and quoted our gutter cleaning project and scheduled the work for the following morning. He arrived at the time he specified and completed the two story gutter cleaning, doing a consciousness job and cleaning up the debris before he left. Steven is a professional with good equipment and also powerwashes roofs, siding and driveways. He's a great communicator and did not try to sell us anything we didn't need which we appreciated. And his final bill was not a penny more than his original quote. We highly recommend Steven and plan to have him back in the fall to maintain our gutters."

Gutter Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can use a pressure washer to effectively clean debris, dirt, and grime from your gutters, but it must be done with caution to avoid damage. Always use a low-pressure setting, with a recommended range between 1,200 and 1,800 PSI. Excessive pressure can bend or dent aluminum gutters, damage seams, peel paint, or even knock shingles off your roof, potentially leading to leaks and moisture issues. For a safer alternative, consider soft washing or cleaning them by hand. When using a pressure washer, it is safer to use gutter elbow extensions from the ground rather than climbing a ladder, as the force can cause instability. Due to the risks, you may want to hire a licensed and insured contractor for the job.

Gutters overflow in heavy rain for several reasons. The main reasons why your gutters could be overflowing in heavy rain include:

  • Not enough downspouts to effectively remove water from your gutters

  • Too small of a gutter width—the average gutter size is four to six inches

  • Clogged gutters

  • Incorrect slope

If you believe your gutters were installed incorrectly, it’s a good idea to know who to call for gutter leaks. Speak with a local gutter specialist to get to the bottom of your gutter system to stop water from flooding your property or yard ASAP.

Properly installed gutters should be able to function normally in heavy rains. Allowing water to overflow can cause water damage around your home's basement or foundation. If the overflow is caused by a simple clog, paying a gutter cleaning cost of $125 to $250 may be enough to get the gutters running clear again. If there's a larger issue, you may need to repair or replace your gutters.

The best times of year to clean your gutters are typically in the spring and fall. Cleaning in the fall is crucial for removing leaves and debris that have accumulated, which helps prevent clogs. A spring cleaning ensures your gutters are clear and prepared for seasonal rainfall.

As a general guideline, experts recommend cleaning your gutters at least twice a year. However, the optimal frequency depends on several factors, such as local weather patterns, the type of gutters you have, and the number of trees on your property. If your home is surrounded by many large trees or pine trees, you may need to clean your gutters as often as every three to four months. If you have few or no trees nearby, twice a year is likely sufficient. In some cases, you may need to clean them a couple of times during the fall and spring to keep them clear and allow water to flow freely.

Yes, it is okay to knock down icicles yourself. Just make sure to take the proper safety precautions. If you’re not comfortable doing it yourself, contact a roofing professional.
