I replaced my fireplace and needed to redo the stone work. I wanted a real stone hearth and facial stone up to about 6.5 feet. I found a few good example photo's of what I was looking for on Houzz.com and combined with a photo of what I had to start with tried to get 3 to 4 quotes from vendors in the area. Sanchez was the first to respond and did so in just a few hours (this is the first clue). The only other quote I got was from another local but I had to call him four times!!! You would think they would be beating my door down to get the work but they couldn't even find the time to call me...and you want to be my stone mason... The estimate Sanchez gave me for real stone was exactly the same as the other one I got for synthetic. I talked to the owner and liked him a lot. He's a family man and has been in business for over thirty years. The first time I talked to him I gained the impression that they are an honest, well intentioned company. We talked a little about the election and what a mess we heading for...but I digress. But I did come to understand that we both have the same values - it is through hard work, respect and caring for customers that an honest living is earned. He asked when I wanted the work done and I said before Thanksgiving. Three days later the job was completed. Sure there were a few times when we had to "clarify requirements" but I simply pulled out the pictures of what I wanted (the ones I used to get the quotes) and said this is the way it needs to be. They said no problem and made it right. (I'm in the software development business so I deal with this type thing all the time but from the contractor side of the table.) During the project I had to leave the house a couple of times and felt completely safe with them there alone as they continued working. At the end of day 1 they cleaned and let me know what time they'd be back on day 2. They were a about an hour later than when they said they would be there on day 2 but they finished according to schedule. Overall, they did a great job and I ended up with a new stone fireplace that was EXACTLY as I pictured it...because i had pictures to reference. :)
