In August 2012, Alyson Smith charged us over $4000 to faux paint our foyer ceiling and apply 2 coats of polyurethane to our recently fauxed kitchen cabinets. HOWEVER. she didn't complete the work and unfortunately, we paid her the total amount in good faith. She has not come back to address any issues that still exist with the ceiling nor has she finished applying the 2 coats of poly to the kitchen. My husband and I have repeatedly requested her to return to finish the work and she keeps scheduling with us and then canceling on the same day. We are so incredibly frustrated with Alyson and would never have her back in our home, but we ridiculously paid her in full and she won't return the amount of money for the unfinished work. She is completely unprofessional as well as strung out on some type of medications which have compromised the quality of her work. On the last occasion when she stopped by to try to finish her the job, she was so dazed she fell in our garage. We told her repeatedly to leave, but she wouldn't insisting she was going to complete the work. The result was a bigger mess in our kitchen. She was supposed to come on 12/5/12 to correct her mistakes, but canceled again last minute. We have no idea if/when she will return. Issues with Alyson Smith have been going on since the end of August and it is completely ridiculous that it is now December and nothing has been completed nor resolved. I would very strongly advise against hiring Alyson Smith, Lady with a Paintbrush!

Response from Interior Evolutions
I was hired to do faux finishing for these Members. They were unhappy with the work just completed by another faux finisher and wanted me to touch up what they had done, as well as some additional work. I completed their kitchen ceiling and a column in the kitchen, and they were extremely happy and loved my work so much that they then hired me to touch up and seal their cabinets previously done by another faux finisher and faux finish their foyer ceiling. I spent countless hours touching up the cabinets and sealing them twice and faux finishing the foyer ceiling. I went out of my way to help these people. I completely finished touching up and sealing the cabinets, and they were very happy with them. We then completed the foyer ceiling, and they loved it. The member told me he had never seen his wife so happy. Three weeks later, they called and said some hand prints had appeared on the foyer ceiling (hmmm…right after workers repaired a chandelier in the same ceiling). These handprints were not there when we finished the ceiling. I re-did the entire ceiling at my own expense, even though it was not my fault. After completing the contracted work, they said they were completely happy and paid me the balance. If they had not been happy with my work, they WOULDN'T have hired me to do more work. They certainly would not have paid me in full if they did not feel I was completely finished with the work and were completely satisfied. Their complaint about me being “strung out on some type of medications” is completely false and ludicrous. The member told me the exact same thing about the previous faux finisher. The whole time I was there, the member complained about numerous other contractors who did work for them. She appeared childish and vindictive. I have spoken to most of these contractors, who all have horror stories about the members and all said the members were extremely difficult to work for and they could not please them no matter what they did. I can provide names of these contractors, including the previous faux finisher, upon request. The previous faux finisher told me that, not only did the members complain about everything they did, but they would not let them back into the house to collect their scaffolding, products, and materials. They had to call the police out to retrieve these things. In retaliation, the members filed a completely frivolous lawsuit against this faux finisher. I was totally shocked when I received this complaint, as I completed all work stated on my contract with the members to their complete satisfaction. The members’ complaint contains numerous lies. I feel they did this to get back at me because, as many touch-ups as I did and as many times as I came back and forth to their home to do more than I was contracted to do, they were angry because I finally said I was not going to do any more (totally unnecessary) touch-ups on the cabinets. From my experience and from reports I received from other contractors, the members are dishonest, demanding, unreasonable, and unstable. I have been a professional faux finisher for over 10 years and have never had problems with any other clients. I can provide many testimonials from other clients (including Chick-Fil-A) raving about my work. This complaint is completely ungrounded and unreasonable. I completed all contracted work to their satisfaction and was paid accordingly. Therefore, I do not owe these people a refund in any amount. In fact, they should have paid me extra for all the aggravation I endured working for them and for all the extra time and effort I put into this job.
