"Good morning Mrs. [Member Name Removed], I'm sorry we were unable to obtain your business. I just went back and reviewed my photos on file that were taken by my sales representative that inspected your property. You are accurate in your description that you had a 'slipshot' job. Your craftsmanship on your roofing system was so poor that we were hesitant to issue a repair such as the one that is listed above and have issues down the [Member Information Removed] that would result in you being unhappy with your investment. Shingles on the roof were face nailed, the chimney flashing appeared to be installed by someone without any knowledge that poorly installed counter flashing without any step flashing (meaning the flashing was useless), the nail patterns used during installation voids manufacture specifications and had faced nailed cap nails into the shingles. I hope you can understand why it was my personal recommendation not to offer a repair that could result in a poor investment down the [Member Information Removed]. It was my opinion that with such poor craftsmanship, It is unfortunate I can not post photos, that you would just be playing 'whack a mole' fixing problems over the lifespan of that roof. My experience in this business is if I offer a repair that is valued at around a couple thousand dollars and I don't alleviate all concerns for the roofing system and surely can not guarantee that you would have a leak free roof for any longevity that it would be a poor investment. Once again, the key factors in making this decision is that it was clearly assessed that the roofers that installed the roof had absolutely no qualifications to install the roof to manufacture specifications based on the inspection, the flashings were not completed correctly, and the shingles were blistering due to the lack of ventilation (which is something that can not be fixed without replacement and will certainly vastly diminish the longevity). Based on all this information it was a sound professional decision not to offer you a repair but to offer you a replacement. I can't agree with your F rating based on my solicitation of a new roof verses a repair that can not ensure longevity. You have deemed us untrustworthy which is something that we have worked extremely hard to obtain and have won the Angie's List Super Service Award three years in a row. There is always multiple ways to obtain a solution and I'm happy that you are satisfied with the results but in the business of roofing the goal is longevity and peace of mind. We could not have ensured that goal unless you replaced your roof and I fully stand by that diagnosis. Drop Box Photos, that do not depict any personal information, are below if allowed by admin's at Angie's List. These will express to those that may not contact us for business, based upon the grounds expressed above that we are untrustworthy, that our decision to recommend a replacement was upon solid grounds. These do not depict the full spectrum of problems, such as the [Member Information Removed] vent not even cut out, but will clearly depict the craftsmanship of the existing system and the blistering. [Hyperlink Removed] Once again I'm sorry that I failed at earning your business. I hope the repair issued will give you the solution you were in attempts to obtain. I ask that you reconsider your grading on this review but I very much value your feedback. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to work with you. Sam Aldridge VP of Sales Trademark Contractors"
"Hey [Member Name Removed], I apologise. I did call you back on Monday morning 5/1/17 (returning your call from the weekend) and left you a voicemail. Looks like you called me back not to long after and left me one back. Sorry I didn't get back to you. I just left you a voice mail and would love to help you out. We have been running full speed with the recent storms in the upstate. To show my sincerity I would be happy to offer a discount on a major repair or complete a minor repair at cost with no profit. Please give me the chance to make it up to you. If not I apologise I was unable to earn your business due to poor communication and accept that as my fault Have a great day, Sam Aldridge"
These guys were great! All the guys and the owner were very friendly and courteous. They fixed all the problems, except one that came back. We had a little trouble getting them to come back out, but that was mainly because they wanted to see it while it was actually raining… and then we had very little rain. They came back out today (during the rain), as promised, and seem to have solved the one issue (which was not due to their work but the previous roofer who had neglected to reshingle under our solar hot water panels). In addition, they will be replacing some of the flashing they previously installed, in one spot that looked "iffy," just be sure. How's that for service!
Great company and great guys. We are very happy and would recommend any time!
Crew arrived as scheduled and completed work within the estimated time. Excellent clean up after the work completion. Entire work area was cleaned including a magnet for nails. Site was properly blown clean.
Damage occurred to the gutter covers. The damage was repaired with only a discussion of the method to be used.
Contractor was responsive to all emails and telephone call.
THE GOOD: Sam, the representative of Trademark, showed up on time which I was happy about. He appeared to be likable, knowledgeable and professional. He inspected the kitchen's ceiling and looked at the visible damage. He confirmed that the ceiling was damp using a moisture meter. He proceeded to look in our attic and was able to find where water was visibly settling on the insulation and sheet rock. He took some photos and later showed them to me. He then inspected the roof and found a number of areas that he felt might be source of the leak. He also took more photos and pointed them out to me. He then made his recommendations by offering me a temporary fix which was to caulk/seal the troubled areas for $199 which I felt was reasonable. He also recommended a roof replacement based on some damage due to "blistering" and areas that showed signs of wear and poor roof installation from previous work done and the original installation. He showed me more photos to support his recommendation. He also recommended I contact my insurance company to see if any of the water damage would be covered. I did that and the insurance adjuster came out on Saturday and approved my claim.
THE BAD: I asked Sam what the square footage of my roof was and what it would cost to replace it. He said there was a similar house in our neighborhood with the exact layout and square footage as mine. He said he had completed a roof replacement for this home and he would pull the numbers from this job in order to provide me with a quotation. He tried looking up the information on his laptop that he brought with him and couldn't find it. He said he would provide a quote for the replacement and get back to me the following day. The following day came and went without receiving a quote. I called him the next day to asked where the quote was and he told me he got hung up on some work and that would get it to me that Saturday. Today is Tuesday, 10/13/15 and he finally sent me the quote that I was promised several days ago. I'm a little disappointed in his follow-up.
"[Member Name Removed] Thank you very much for your review. I was able to locate the roof with your similar dimensions yet did notice one the gables were different. I had to order an eagle view (satellite imagery) that took a couple days to be delivered to me so I could finalize your quote. Due to the 7-9 days straight of rain that caused the immense flooding in Columbia, SC I was backed up in my schedule and playing catch up. I apologize about the delay in getting you the quote. The report released in my quote should be a great assistance for your 'builders file' for your property and can be used to compare with any other quotes that you take. Hopefully we will have the opportunity to earn your further business."
Sam Aldridge contacted us in a timely manner. He came out, looked at the roof, and was courteous enough to give us the name of someone who could replace the fascia, because their company didn't do that, they were only roofers. I asked Sam, if we needed to have the fascia replaced before he did the work on the roof, and he said ?No, have that done afterwards?.
Once signing all the documents, electronically in June, Sam worked us into his schedule to have our roof replaced. On July 8th the roofers arrived bright and early to to start work, which according to Sam, " Shouldn?t be that hard of a job, and that they?d be done by early afternoon." The men finished the job sometime after 6 pm.
Once the job was done we contacted the gentleman Sam said could fix our fascia. We sent the him pictures and asked how much the facia would be to repair. He contacted us and noticed from the photos that the fascia was more of picture molding. He stated that our house is an older house and the problem area was actually the decking on our roof, not the fascia.
We contacted Sam again on July 17th and informed him of our conversation with the contractor. Sam told us he?d need more pictures of the area in question. We went on vacation for two weeks starting July 20th, and upon returning, we sent the pictures he requested. We heard nothing from Sam until he sent us an email that said he and Trademark Contractors found it troubling that we knew of the damaged area, but took weeks to contact them about it.
The siding was pulled back when Sam initially inspected that area when he was giving us an estimate. We find it troubling that Sam claims his crew could not see the damage to the decking, or that Sam couldn?t tell the difference between decking
and fascia.
It's now the end of September 2015, and have yet to have the problem resolved.
While the majority of the work was done in a timely manner, we are still needing to have the job completed. The area in question is approximately one foot by eight feet and is located over the corner of the master bedroom. We understand Trademark is busy with other roofing jobs, but we paid for a full roof and feel we should get a job done to our satisfaction.
"[member name removed], Thank you for taking the time and writing a review. The good news is your are fully covered under warranty and it will be taken care of. I apologize about the delay but your specif warranty issue took a couple of meetings. Your house, that is older, 'does not' have a fascia board at all. You have an aluminum flashing that goes over your soffit wood and in nailed into the lip of the one by decking. The decking from the top side view looked fine during replacement as you would probably attest to as you took many production photos that you have shared with me. The decking, for the roofing substrate, is black on the underside (not visible to the roofers) and only rotten on the lip/edge. This lip is rotted due to the flashing piece that goes from the soffit to the lip of the decking that acts as your 'fascia' hanging and not being properly installed. I left a message yesterday on your Wife's phone and have assigned a crew, as promised, to replace the decking. Unfortunately this platform does not allow me to post the photos of the wood rot area that would further explain the issue for those that are to view this. We truly appreciate your business and hope that we can work with you on future projects. Give me a call anytime on my direct line if you have any further questions and/or concerns."
Sam was great; this was our first time with an insurance claim for hail damage. From our first meeting, the process went exactly as explained by Sam. Sam even did the coordination required to get the estimate updated to cover things missed during assessment. The workers worked hard and finished the entire job in 2 days. They did an outstanding job keeping the mess to a minimum and didn't do any damage to the yard or house. They really did a good job cleaning up afterwards.
"Mr. [Member Name Removed], Thank you very much for allowing us to earn your business. I appreciate you taking the time to give us a review. It was a pleasure working with you and your family. Let us know if there is anything we can help you with on future projects."
"[Removed member name] Thank you very much for taking the time to leave us a review. We appreciate your business and are happy to have worked with you on two other projects after this roofing job. We look forward to assisting you on your next renovation."
Once the afternoon rains subsided for a few days his crew arrived at 7:30 am and worked until 8:45pm in the 100 degree heat. My new roof is beautiful, the clean up was very thorough and I couldn't be more pleased. Completely painless experience! :)
I would highly recommend Trademark Contractor's LLC. Thanks Sam! You were awesome to work with!
"[Member Name Removed], Thank you very much for taking the time to leave us a review. It was a pleasure working with you on this project. I hope to hear from you on any future projects you have coming up."
They came to the house around 4:30pm they were finished about 8:45.
They removed the shingles, repaired part of the frame against the house cleaned up well.
I was quoted a price and they honored the contracted price. I was very pleased as how fast they worked and the quality of the work.
"[Member name removed], Thank you very much for taking the time and leaving us a review. It was a pleasure working with you on this project. Let me know how I can help in the future with your next job."
