I’M WRITING THIS REVIEW IN HOPES OF SAVING ANYONE FROM FALLING INTO THIS SCAM. After Much Research And Numerous Conversions With Sell Stiff About What Type Of Wood I Prefer. I stated that I did not want Chinese Cedar or Japanese Cedar. Was Lead To Believe They Would Install A Western Red Cedar Privacy Fence. I could have asked for pine at a much lower cost and would have all the problems associated with a pine: shrinkage and Warped bords. Knowing that I wanted a privacy fence that would not allow my neighbors to see into my yard or my dog to see into their yard and that would last for years, unlike pine wood would not last and Warp or have Shrinkage issues, I chose a Western Red Cedar Privacy Fence Based On The Characteristics of Western Red Cedar Strength, Stability, Resistance • Western Red Cedar Is Strong And Durable. It’s Very Stable And Isn’t Likely To Shrink Or Warp After Installation. It Contains Oils That Make It Naturally Resistant To Insects And Rot For A Long-Lasting Fence • Chinese Cedar- Used by many fence companies because of its lower cost, Chinese Cedar is not cedar; it is a fir. Its ability to resist decay and weathering is inferior to Western Red Cedar, making it less suitable for fences and other outdoor structures. • Japanese Cedar- A newer product on the market in the US that shows promise as being a quality, lower-cost alternative to Western Red Cedar. However, the pickets are thinner and less sturdy than Western Red Cedar and tend to split or break during installation. If the fence company that you choose is using Japanese Cedar rather than Western Red Cedar, you should not be expected to pay the same price for the fence as you would for Western Red Cedar I Had A Fence Installed In Nov 2021 By Pennington Fence Company. It Is Now Six Months Later, And My Fence Has Gaps Between The Bords As Much As A Inch In Some Places and Warps. I had it stained and sealed within three months of installation I Reached Out To The Owner Of The Company To Ask What; He Tells Me That He Did Not Guarantee That There Would Be No Shrinkage and Warped Of The Boards. And that he would not. They would not even come out to look at the issue because it had been over 90 days after the installation. I paid over 6,000 dollars for this fence, expecting a Western Red Cedar Privacy Fence; however, I suspect I got a cheaper Chinese Cedarwood or Japanese Cedarwood. I am sending a sample of the wood off to the lab at my expense. To verify what type of wood it is.

Never responded to request. Finally doing it myself, half done now.

We were very pleased. They were very informative before we started the project, answered all our questions before beginning the work. The fence was installed in a very timely manner. I would recommend this company.

The whole process was really great. The company sent a salesman to my house to take measurements and discuss my requirements. A quote was provides quickly. We had a couple days of rain that cause a delay in the start, but once the crew got going, they knocked it out quickly. Very professional operation.

Pennington Fence is the best fencing company there is. We have hired them several times. Their work and quality are top notch. Every time they put up a fence or a driveway gate, all of the neighbors hired them as well.

Good work overall

Pennington was outstanding in every respect. The receptionist was friendly and knowledgeable, the estimator right on the ball, and the crew quick and thorough. Pennington compared very well to the other fence companies in the Jefferson area. One said on its voicemail that it wasn't taking residential jobs right now, but might in the future, so call back. Another outfit sent an estimator who gave me a price 66% higher than Pennington and said that they could come out to do the job "in a couple of months". I said that I travel out of the country a good bit, and that I needed a firm appointment. If the best they could do was two months, that was fine but I needed to have a date so I could plan my business around it. They refused, saying in essence that they would get to the job when they felt like it. When the Pennington estimator said, "How about next week?" I couldn't believe my good luck. They gave me a date and time, the crew showed up as promised, and did an excellent job. For future jobs for my house and my rentals in the area, I won't use anyone but Pennington.

Everything went great, knocked it out in one day and it was everything we hoped for. Will recommend to others.

Excellent customer service from entire company from beginning to the end.

the installation was good but I also needed the automated equipment to be replaced. the gentleman was honest and said they do not do that but will give me the phone number of person they used. When I called that person, he was not able to help me and now I am still looking for someone to reinstall the automated equipment.

Job was done well, though a little pricey for what was required.

They were good.  I'd give them an "A" overall.  They just a good job.  They were very professional.  Showed up on time and finished the job on time.  Quality work.

Pennington sales person came out and did not listen. He spent an hour on the phone with his "boss" coming up with a quote for additional work I did not need or want - approximately twice the work originally requested. When I pointed out the error, he had to go talk to his boss again, and came back with a quote that was just $100 less. I called a competitor, with equally good Angie's List ratings, who came out, listened, was professional, and only quoted what I asked for. Guess who is getting the work and the referrals from me - and two neighbors have already asked me who I've hired.

The young man came out to measure as scheduled and never got back with us with any pricing.

They were on-time, very professional, priced fairly, responsive, the sales process was easy and non pushy. They also got it up in one day, they were like a well oiled machine. The only things I could nit pick is that they left several slats higher then others. The installer explained it was for drainage, however I preferred they not be left up as my dogs could dig underneath them (and they did), however I solved by putting concrete pavers underneath those slats. Overall, fantastic company to deal with!
