NEW OWNER BE WARNED! I hired Bolton in April 2024 for a full HVAC system installation, and nearly a year later, the job was still not completed. They claimed the only thing left was to install thermostats and start the system. Based on that, I paid in full- trusting the work was complete. That trust was a mistake. In December, when we tried to turn on the water heaters and HVAC for heat, my plumber warned me not to activate the system—Bolton had failed to vent the water heaters, and doing so would have released carbon monoxide into the house. Only after repeated calls did they come out and fix it. At that point, I questioned everything they had done. Bolton had a strong reputation in the past, but since Anthony Mattioni took over, the quality and professionalism have completely collapsed. When I told Anthony that the HVAC still wasn’t running, he and Larry Swafford came out and insisted everything was fine and working. It wasn’t. I then hired a licensed third-party HVAC inspector, who reported that $15,000 worth of work was still needed across the entire property: attic, main floors, basement, and garage suite. Anthony saw the report himself and swore he would make it right. He acknowledged that the work was incomplete and even voiced concern about the gas lines his own team had installed, we even discussed getting the city to do pressure checks on the gas lines. He had also admitted that they were not capable of taking on such a large HVAC installation. But within days, he reversed course and claimed everything was “done” and that Bolton would no longer be involved. When I did speak to him he complained that it was too many hours for his crew and it would now cost him money to finish my job. He was no longer going to take my calls. I now have emails, texts, inspection reports, photos, and videos showing the work was never completed and in some areas, dangerously done- gas leaks, wires in HVAC pans, vents going no where… I was forced to hire and pay another contractor to finish the job. The dishonesty, lack of accountability, and potential safety hazards have been shocking. I would strongly caution anyone against hiring Bolton under its current ownership.

Very well. Chris found a malfunction and arranged to get the part and return to complete the repair in 2 days. Working extra hard to complete before I have guests coming for the weekend. Chris and Linda in the office have been extremely helpful. Both helped to check and make sure the repair was under warranty. Have been a customer for more than 20 years and plan to continue with Bolton.

Charles was very professional and polite. He worked well efficiently. He was personal and pleasant. The results were written out with recommendations for further suggestions to avoid emergencies and he listed probable cost of each option listed. Thank you Charles!

Charles is the consummate professional and did a fabulous job! This is the second project I have had done and plan on having him back to install a gas fire pit.

I've been trying to get my yard gas light to work on and off for months, no luck. Dario had it repaired in no time. Should have called Bolton Services to start with. If you have a problem with your outside pole gas light call Bolton Services.

Called J R Bolton services. Linda answered and I was a little out of the way but she made it happen. Set appointment...they called day before to confirm appointment. When they arrived called me and gave me the list of possibilities, I approved work and have called back for another visit. I cannot even to express the professionalism and and their punctuality I received. Thanks peeps customer for life

Shopping, purchase and installation of gas logs were all excellent. Scheduling and dealing with the office staff was difficult because you have to leave a voice mail and no "live" person answers the phone to respond to scheduling questions/problems. Communication was challenging with the office staff scheduler. Kudos to Karis for the shopping experience and to Charles T. for a great installation!

Al was extremely knowledgeable and proficient in servicing the fireplaces and answering my questions. I will request Al for future cleaning services.

My husband is not pleased with them. We had a new system put in 6 years ago and he asked for a specific thing be done and they said it didn't need to be done and now it is bad. The service person has nothing to do with the sale person. Now we have a freon leak which will cost us a tremendous amount of money to find out where the leak is. Their pricing is very expensive. They come on time for their annual checkup. The service guys are very nice. We are looking to change contractors.

Frankly, I can be a difficult customer - I like technical details and I'm prone to second guess a lot. These guys were great through the whole process. The initial quote, working with me on some finer points, letting me choose variations in the products, etc. Once things were rolling, they kept showing up, on time, day after day to knock out one thing after another. All the installers worked with me to accommodate various requests from where to run some conduit to the location of the HVAC units. I greatly appreciate the team and the work they did!

Had two condensers stop working (basement and main level). The tech says both fan motors are bad and one also needs a starting capacitor. He then says I need to replace this and that, and really I should just replace my entire unit. He quotes $1500 for the two fans and a capacitor (outrageous!) but pushes other options at $4000 up to $20,000. My family is dying inside in the 90 degree heat so I have him fix the main unit and plan to hire someone else or DIY the other unit. I elect to hire a highly recommended service in Forsyth county (Allan Norris HVAC). Upon initial inspection they show me the Bolton tech has stolen the motor from my condenser. It is a common Amanda condenser that takes a very basic common fan. To replace that fan and condenser Bolton wanted nearly $1000. Allan Norris did it for nearly a third of that. I call Jenny the office manager to express my frustration and she has excuse after excuse as to why the tech took my common motor (that could be totally functional if only the capacitor was bad). When I ask why he stole the motor she says "you need to watch what you say, we didn't steal anything" to which I respond "what do you call taking something from someone's property without telling them?" I demand the tech return the motor. Obviously he will return the biggest piece of junk motor he can find if he was in fact taking a good motor from me...we will never know. I then find out the motor he did install was a very basic service motor and is the cheapest possible way to repair my job. My tech's name was Charles. I advise you to Avoid him and this company.

They were very professional and were able to work around our remodeling clutter. I was very happy at how friendly and professional, as well as careful and attention detailed they were on their work. I took a lot of time and compared what I was getting as well as price and services provided and I found that JR Bolton had the best all the way around. In fact they were in a close tie with Reliable, but JR Bolton beat them on price and services included. All the others fell by the wayside when it came to equipment, service, price, and first impressions. In fact, Holtkamp came with an offer of a 3 ton 14 seer single stage system and no duct seal package that would be installed for around 9000 dollars...they weren't even considered serious, as JR Bolton would install a 3.5 ton 15 seer 2 stage system for around that same price. I was told by another company that it was too hot to go in the attic and seal ducts this time of year and I should just have them do the install and they could come back later to do the ducts. Bottom line, is that JR Bolton was not afraid to do the work, they were professional and courteous, they knew what they were doing from the time that I first met with the sales man to the time they installed my system. And, the price was unbeatable for the equipment they provided and duct seal package (service) that they included. If you are like me and normally get 5 quotes or more to compare all aspects of an expense then you should put JR Bolton on your list.
