My mother had her water pump, hot water heater and some misc. things stolen from her house. Mr. Bargeron, owner of Altman Electric, lived down the street from her and saw the police there when we filed the report. He offered a good price to replace everything, and did very well on this. He helped with the insurance claim and did the work in a timely fashion. Some of her pipes underneath the house had to be replaced, and the pipes in the back of her shower/bathtub had to be replaced as well. This is where the trouble began. Although he did make sure everything was working there, he tore a large hole in the back of her bedroom closet and never fixed that. In the shower where the faucet is, he cut a hole too large to be covered by the metal covering she had. He promised to replace that, and never did. After the water was back on and in working order, it was discovered that the thief who stole her water pump and hot water heater had also gone in her attic and cut a bunch of random wires for the copper. The outlets for her washer and dryer no longer worked, so he offered to do the rewiring. While doing this, he discovered some wiring problems under her house, and replaced and rewired what he needed to. Her fuse box is located in her kitchen pantry, and to access the back of it he had to tear a hole in her dining room wall, which he said he would fix. Needless to say, he never did. Now, while this was all in the works, he gave my mother a price of $1000 to remodel her kitchen, which included new marble kitchen counter, fixing the floor (which was starting to dryrot), re-tile the floor, new cabinet for the counter and sink, and a new sink. This also included moving the sink to a new location in her kitchen, and all the plumbing involved with this. She had an electric oven/stove which was not working, as well as an old trash compactor. Those both were moved to her laundry room. While she was at work, he came and took those two items and sold them for scrap metal without her permission. I had a talk (to say the least) with him about this when I found out, and he promised that he had a new oven/stove lined up for her. Because of this, I did not take that matter any further (as in calling the police). I probably should have. It is now December 30, 2011. He promised the work would be finished by the beginning of December. He has not returned to do any work, has not called, has not stopped by to speak with my mother or I, has not tried to make any type of arrangements...need I say more? He was paid approximately $2000 for the other work he did (or half-did), and his phone is disconnected half the time and he has moved from down the street from my mother. I have no way to contact him, and will definitely take further action if we haven't heard from him after the first of January. I would highly recommend not to use him for any type of work.
