Jonathan Davis of Collins Corporate Services at 2524 Park Vista Drive in Atlanta/Brookhaven came out to do an estimate on repairing my Wolf oven. It was taking 20 minutes to preheat to the set temperature which I thought was a lot (we had just moved into the house and I wasn't familiar with this 'fancy' oven). He showed up and said 'it's the temp probe' without really doing any diagnostics and I took that at face value as the item that typically causes this issue but was a bit skeptical. He wrote up an estimate for $300 for parts and $250 for labor (without looking up any prices for this part for this make/model of oven). He asked for a check for the parts so that he could order and pay for them. He wanted the check written to him personally and I refused but wrote a check to his company. He called the next day and said I also needed an igniter and that he would have to rebuild the whole unit so he needed even more parts because everything works together. I told him to wait and not order the parts as I was suspicious (when he was at the house, he kept selling me really hard about what a great deal he was giving me, yet he didn't even look up the part price before quoting it to me). I called Wolf and they said no, I didn't need a new unit with the probe unless the unit itself was broke, and I didn't need an igniter because I had an electric not a gas stove and by the way, she said that 20 minutes pre-heat time is standard for a Wolf oven so there was likely nothing wrong with the oven in the first place and a Wolf tech should have known that. I texted the guy at Collins that I did not want to do the work and not to order the parts and he said ok. But I discovered he'd already cashed the $300 check. I texted him again and asked him to cut me a check back for $300 and he readily agreed (his exact words in text:'yes maam'. 3 weeks and no check so I sent him several follow up reminders a week apart and excuses, then nothing. So he has my money for parts he never ordered. I am disgusted. He's since taken down his website listing so I suspect he will relist under another name. Watch out for Jonathan Davis from Brookhaven. This address is likely his home address as he's probably a sole proprietor so any new company name with this address should not be trusted.
