Excellent care by excellent staff who always go above and beyond to take care of my dog.

This vet and her staff are the best of the best! They are highly knowledgable, caring, compassionate, kind and dedicated - wish I could give them 10 stars! Cannot recommend them enough. Dr. Oertley is amazing and her staff is top-notch. We will never go anywhere else as long as we reside in the area. Do your pet a favor and check them out!

It doesn't get any better than Cohutta Animal Clinic. They are, in a word, spectacular. Your pet is their pet, not just another animal to diagnose. While speaking with us, they pet and played with Einstein (our dog). They explained thoroughly what they were going to do in the annual check-up they'd be performing. Einstein followed them (willingly!) out of the room and when they returned with him, they precisely explained their findings -- in laymen's terms! We've taken Einstein to Cohutta on numerous occasions (he's an indoor/outdoor dog) and he has never balked before the front door as he has with other veterinarians. If something has to be done to treat Einstein for anything, they always have a variety of ways to take care of him, and they always ask us to call them for any reason. For years we used another veterinarian that was closer to our house; we won't be doing that again. Cohutta Animal Clinic is our veterinarian of choice. Einstein is in 100% agreement with our choice, and that's what counts the most!

We are thrilled to discover this veterinary gem in our little town! Dr. Oertley is highly experienced, compassionate, and has a wonderful 'bedside' manner with our furbabies! Staff is courteous, professional, and competent. Will not go anywhere else for care; this vet is the BEST! Highly, highly, highly recommend!

Test results were not accurate. Instead of checking reviews I should have checked Georgia Board of Veternary Medicine. VET003145. Preventative Medical Emergency (mishaps) is far more important than "judging a book by its cover". Nice staff clean waiting room does not create compassion. A Vet that does not listen to the pet owner or communicate effectively and strives on a profit margin over animals health can be dangerous.

Numerous tests that were costly and as of this date no tried and true results.  Numerous emails to get supplies and results answered at times but not when we needed important medical supplies and instructions for usage.

Ok, I came in with my arms full. The receptionist and aid help me and my Pekingese get in and settled. The aid took the info and the vet came in and talk a good while with me. She then did a physical and blood work. She talked with me about what she found due to physical. I received my meds and we were helped to the car.
The next day I received the blood work in an email. The vet explained it.

First, the staff were caring and excellent, but they don't care for my dog, the Vet does. My problems continued over 2 appointments so it wasn't a matter of a the vet just having a bad day. The vet being Karen Oertley.
During the appointment when I would try to stop her (the Vet's) narrative because I needed clarification, I'd indicate, to wait. Before we continue, I'd like to understand what you've said and add important missing info.
She would ignore me even when I said it multiple times and go on with her instructions, which of course I couldn't follow until I resolved/understood the previous instructions.
After 2-3 attempts I'd get so frustrated I did what she did -- I just kept talking over her hoping that would get her attention. But NO, she would turn and simply l leave the room. When she returned 5 - 10 minutes later she didn't ask what it was I so badly wanted to ask, but continued her narrative which had naturally lost me long ago because my questions/insformation about the previous instructions were never answered. She did this storming-out-in-a-tantrumand quot; episode twice the first visit.
The second visit after this one, twice I held up my hand and said
something like; before we continue lets get back to my dog's strict diet so I can understand. Twice she ignored me and continued talking over my questions. Which of course I couldn't follow until I understood the basics of my dog's special seisure diet. And she refused to answer those questions the entire visit.
So I held up my hand and said a third time that I needed to go back to the diet info before continuing. When she ignored me a third time I treated her exactly as she treated me. I kept right on talking over her to get her attention. She threw her previous tantrum and turned abruptly and left the room in the middle of my talking. She didn't return for 10 minutes. And at that point still never asked me what it was I needed to know/say.
A vet that doesn't listen to the her patient's and quot;personand quot; is as dangerous to that patient as a pediatrician who refuses to listen to the mother of their patient; the mother who knows the child better than any and is the one to carry out the doctor's instructions at home.
The vet Karen Oertley is unprofessional, horribly rude, refuses to spend time to learn what's going on with their patient and/or answer your questions, apparently too busy to listen to vital information, throws tantrums, but most importantly, this all makes her dangerous to her animal patients. And all medical personnel will tell you that ALL information the family has to give about the patient is vital to proper care and must be listened to with the utmost interest.
Upon returning home after this second experience at Cohutta Clinic with Karen Oertley I immediately contacted a new vet and requested she apply for all my dog's records at Cohutta. I will never trust my dog to the inadequate care of Karen Oertley at Cohutta Animal Clinic again.

I need a nutrition supplement for my Chihuahua that can be purchased over the counter in FL but not in GA.I explained the situation to the receptionist, who then spoke with the vet. The vet sold me the partial tube she had in her office to tide me over until I got back to FL. There was no office fee charged. Office was very clean, employees were professional, and I got what I needed for my pet.

It went very well. They treat animals with wonderful care as if the animals are theirs. The clearly love animals and only want to help them. I couldn't have been happier. The rash cleared up by the next day and never returned. With the rash gone the dog stopped scratching also.
In general they provide great animal care, their knowledge seems very high, and the price is reasonable.

They are wonderful. They provide really good medicine and they don't cost a fortune.
