"????? Great Experience with Our Garage Floor Coating We recently had our garage concrete floor coated, and we are extremely happy with how it turned out. Before the coating, the concrete floor looked old, stained, and difficult to keep clean. The difference after the project was finished was honestly amazing. The crew did a great job preparing the concrete before applying the coating. They cleaned and prepared the surface carefully, which made me feel confident that the coating would actually last. We chose a gray color with decorative flakes, and the finished floor looks clean, modern, and much more professional. The biggest difference for us is how easy the floor is to maintain now. Dirt, dust, and oil spills are much easier to clean, and the surface looks great even after using the garage regularly. The coating also gives the garage a completely different appearance and makes the space feel more like an extension of our home rather than just a storage area."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

The average cost to install an epoxy garage floor is $2,514, with typical projects ranging from $750 to over $5,716. On a per-square-foot basis, you can expect to pay between $3 and $12. Several factors influence the total cost, including the total square footage, required surface preparations, the type and thickness of the epoxy, design complexity, decorative options, and labor costs. For example, an epoxy floor for a one-car garage may cost between $720 and $2,900, while a two-car garage can range from $1,100 to $4,300. Adding decorative elements like flakes can cost about $10 per 250-pound bag, and choosing a metallic epoxy can increase the price to between $5 and $12 per square foot. With proper care and maintenance, a well-installed epoxy floor can last for 10 to 20 years.

The fastest way to remove carpet is to remove carpet in strips instead of trying to remove it in one large piece. Wear protective equipment such as gloves and goggles, use a utility knife to cut the carpet in long strips, and then pull at the edge of the strip to loosen the staples or glue. Carpet-cutting razor blades are best on your utility knife for the quickest removal.

Luxury vinyl flooring is the best for pet owners, as it holds up well against scratches and accidents. Non-slip stone or porcelain tile are great options as well. Each of these also provide a less slippery surface for pups that like to run around.

As for the flooring options to avoid, these are hardwood, laminate, and carpeting. Claws can scratch hardwood and tear up carpeting. On top of that, removing dog urine from hardwood floors can be difficult; likewise with carpeting. Laminate holds up much better, but it’s super slippery (especially for dogs).

Carpet padding costs an average of $510 to purchase and install in a 225-square-foot room. The price can range from as low as $170 to as much as $850, depending on the brand, the thickness, and the labor cost. Although carpet padding will increase the overall cost of carpet installation, it also helps the carpet hold up longer, reduces noise in the room, and provides more insulation.

If you live in a region with high humidity, carpet bubbling can occur regularly. A dehumidifier can help keep your carpet flat during the most humid months.
