Masonry Work
He came out one Friday morning and went over how he would put the stairs together, how many steps and price. When he arrived on Sunday, We immediately were impressed with his skills as a mason. Checked how level everything was, how straight and took great care with grout lines. Couldn't be happier with working with him!

We were really happy with him just we didn't end up doing the work yet but I definitely plan in calling him again. We get a quote from them and that took place probably September or October time frame. He ended up not been able to do the particular job I have him come up to look at but he advice me against it because he said it is little and cost effective and he showed me why. He showed me a lot of damage and stuff in the house that was not renovatable but he was very wonderful and knowledgeable. I was very impressed with him and his professionalism. He is on my list soon I get started again and figure out what I will be having and I do plan in calling him.

He was very knowledgeable. In the end we had to push him to finish the job (brick cleaning) because he was past retirement age and appeared to find the physical demands difficult.
He was very honest.

i needed to re-build the steps and short sidewalk to my front porch. I had not had any prior experience in needing the services of a brick mason so i went to Angie's List and found Mr. Bell.I called and he came right over looked at what I needed and called the next day with an estimate.Since my home was built with old bricks,Mr. Bell said that he would try to find those bricks or he could get new and quot;oldand quot; bricks. He started the job in a few days as soon as the weather permitted and finished it in one day. He found the old bricks that matched my home perfectly and although I had really no idea of the cost, the actual cost was very near what i expected to pay for the job.The steps and sidewalk look wonderful and I was so pleased with the entire experience.

After reviewing all the options, I chose this company both because of the existing reviews and in large part because it is a local firm. After the initial phone contact, Mr. Bell arrived within just a few hours to assess the job and provide an estimate. The quote appeared in line with what I'd seen elsewhere, so we agreed to have him do the work and start exactly one week later. However a sudden period of colder-than-usual temperatures (below freezing) and high winds forced three separate delays. Eventually the work started 8 days later than planned.
Once the weather improved, Mr. Bell showed up very promptly with his crew and began to erect the scaffolding needed to reach the work area above the kitchen bay window. At the same time, the damaged or separating bricks were removed from the front stoop and the porch roof was jacked up. As a matter of safety, they strung black and yellow safety tape between the porch roof supports, to keep us from falling off the stoop that was no longer there. The following day the crew began to rebuild the stoop, using as many of the original bricks as could be salvaged. On the third day we were expecting them to return and finish the stoop job as well as the bay window work, but bad weather (in the form of severe thunderstorms) again got in the way.
While we were away from home on the fourth day (the day after the storms), the crew returned to remove the bracing from the front porch, do the repair work over the bay window, and remove the scaffolding. I was less than pleased to see that the mortar / mortar dust had not been removed from the front porch work, nor had any effort apparently been made to match the color of the new mortar with the color of the mortar over the window. To my eyes, the difference stands out rather glaringly.
One week after the actual start, Mr. Bell returned to clean the brickwork (at my request) and for payment.
