First off, it took them 25 minutes to drive 6.5 miles from their facility to her townhouse. She was charged for their travel time, which took nearly twice as long as it should have. They had to call for directions. The 2 men crew arrived but parked the truck in such a manner that it had to be moved several times in order for the residents of the complex to be able to enter and leave. It was a very large truck, but all this eats up time unnecessarily.
The main worker was quiet and professional and seemed to know what he was doing. His assistant, although a personable young man, seemed to be more interested in soliciting business for his father's carpet cleaning company and his girlfriend's health supplement business than in moving furniture. There were several occasions where I would see the younger man standing around talking to the older man, while the older man was working. There were alot of things he could have moved that did not require 2 people, yet he spent an unnecessary amount of time talking instead of working. My daughter and I ended up moving alot of the smaller items in the interest of speeding up the move.
This move took 4 HOURS!!! There is no way this should have taken 4 hours. The older man told us we had done very good prep work prior to the mowers arriving. Other than taking apart the mirror and hutch from the bedroom dresser and wrapping the dresser and chest of drawers in plastic, all the movers had to do was move everything onto the truck, drive 5 miles to the storage facility and unload the truck. The storage room was larger than was needed so they didn't have to work hard to cram everything in.
Neither my daughter nor I will EVER use Two Men and a Truck again. We are extremely disappointed. We really didn't have 2 men and a truck, we had 1 1/2 men and a truck. If we could have gotten 2 good workers instead of 1 good worker and a worker trying to drum up personal business, I'm sure it would have gone ALOT faster.
Now. today, Thursday, December 19th, 2013, I again hired them for my 2nd and last move, and again with the prepaid 2 hour minimum of $228.00. All they had to move was boxes, mostly small to medium, 5 book cases, a wicker rocker and a few misc. items. Most of it was in one bedroom.
They said their start time was 8:15. They got to my house at 8:50 and I live only 15 minutes away from them. They said they had to get gas. Anyway, my time started at 8:15 and by 9:00 they started with the first box. So I asked them when my 2 hour minimum was up and they said it would be at 10:15.
We finally got to my new place about 11:30 or so. This time, they could not back up the driveway as they had a truck that was too big. They said it had a lift for moving washers and dryers. They had to park on the street and CARRY EVERYTHING by hand up the driveway. which is at least 100 feet from the street.
Those guys worked their bu**s off for sure!! However it took FOREVER for them to unload that truck! By the time it was done it was 1:45 PM!!! OMG! from 8:15 to 1:45??? 5 and 1/2 hours! At $114 an hour it WOULD have been $627.00!!! I could have bought all new for that!! I spoke to the manager and asked for 1 and 1/2 hours off of the time as it was not my fault that they sent a huge truck for boxes when when the move with my furniture went fine with my driveway.
At first the manager said they were not responsible for a "graded" driveway, which this is not. She first offered 15 minutes and ended up giving me 1 hour off of the bill so all together for THIS move I paid $513.00!! Together with my first move 2 weeks ago I have paid 2 men and a truck a total of $855.00!!
I feel I was charged too much as this last move should not have taken more than 3 hours TOPS and I was charged 4 and 1/2 hours. They had no appliances to move or any furniture except for the first bedroom set in November. I feel the fee is too high and I will not use them again.
Just wanted you to know. Be prepared to pay, for sure! I also told her I would not recommend them to anyone and would give a failing grade. The guys COULD be a bit faster, however I probably would not be pushing it either if I had to walk each box up 100 foot of driveway. They (the men)were OK. Will not use this company again for sure!
It went awful. It seems the two men were not aware a round trip was being made; I notified the lady who took my reservation and again when reservation was confirmed. The demeanor of the two men was “off” from the start. Everything they moved was either scuffed, scratched or both. When the job was complete I had gouge marks and scrapes at both homes in numerous places around doors and stair walls. The entire time of the move (and it took a long time) the two men bickered like two young children. The movers had no sense of urgency and moved extremely slow. The job ended up taking eight hours. The previous day was spent moving the rest of my two story, just under 3K sq. ft. household with the help of 3 other people, it also took eight hours. The movers did not communicate or take direction well, or at all! At the point all of my items were loaded in to the truck, they just hopped in and acted is if they were going to leave – no communication to me whatsoever. When I asked if they were ready to go, I got a deer in the headlights looked. Since a deposit is required at the time of reservation, and a credit card is obtained prior to any work being done; the company gets paid regardless of customer satisfaction. The day following completion of the job, I called the office back to make a complaint (and two more times in the following week) about service received, I was transferred to a supervisor and to this day have never heard back.
However, one of the 2 guys was too friendly, the small talk he engaged in was about the personal problems in his life (problems with his wife cheating on him and his kids being illegitimate)! It may have added a little to the time it took, I'm not sure. Of course, I was not interested in his personal drama! Please tell your guys to not discuss personal problems with customers! Even better, discussions should not include small talk at all, just discuss the job! He was fine otherwise, so please do not put his job in jeopardy because of this! After all, he may have a divorce to pay for....The other guy was perfect, just talked about the job and minimal to no small talk except at the end when the payment was made and we were off the clock!
