My hvac system is 7 years old. They've come out to repair it 3 times and yet it keeps having problems. They guarantee 2 cleanings a year under their club, we never received it and they only agreed to rectify this after we've moved out- They offered no discount and no refunds for missing the service that we paid for. Only reason they get 1 star instead of 0, all of their technicians are ploute and helpful, just wish they could spread this energy to their management and ownership.

I would say a B for price, because they had us by the short hairs and could do anything they want pretty much. It could have been worse I'm sure. I would tell family and friends to go ahead and use them. They were good in an emergency situation and I'm sure they are even better under normal circumstances.

They come when they say. If they're running late they phone you. They're very professional and explain things to you. They have an apprentice program so they teach the guy's the right way.

Mr. Jordan was right on time and talked to me about my current system and home layout.  After getting some initial information, he went right to work checking out my system.  He was very knowledgeable and took time to answer all my questions.  He provided me a written estimate on site.  One thing I really liked about Mr. Jordan was that he was a technician -- not just a salesman -- and that's how he approached his visit with me. He was not pushy at all and was courteous and professional.  I should also say that the office staff that I dealt with over the phone in setting up the initial appointment (Leane and Amanda) were extremely courteous.  They called me to verify my appointment time and also called to let me know when Mr. Jordan was enroute to my home.  Although I did not select Duggan's for my HVAC system, it was not due to anything other than my comfort level with the recommended brand and the cost I was willing to pay for what I needed.  It was not unreasonable, just more than what I could handle.  I would definitely call on Duggan for any future A/C or heating issue.

My AC unit (original contractors unit for a town house, about nine years old) had become more and more inefficient. On recommendations from a friend, I asked Duggan's to look it over in June and they found it was low of Freon. They recharged it, looked over the rest of the unit and said that it all looked good, but they were concerned about a leak. The unit worked tight again, but sure enough, two months later, it died.

Duggan's again came by and gave options. If I wanted it to last a year or two until I sold the townhouse, they could repair it. If I wanted something better, I could replace it, and gave options for replacement. The quote looked good, and when I checked around they seemed to hold up to competitors. I ended up staying with Duggan's. I asked for two special items: one was to move the pad, the outdoor unit, and of course the emergency shut off away from my bedroom window (what designer thought to place it there to begin with?), and around the corner of the house out of earshot. The second was that I have a NEST thermostat they I wished to use with the new unit. They agreed to both and assured me the NEST would be installed correctly.

Work was scheduled for that Monday. The workers were prompt and immediately went to work. They understood the job well and worked diligently. They were polite, neat, respectful of the house and me. They were done on time and left the house exactly the way they found it, except for having a new functional HVAC. The only issue I had was while the original representative knew how to install a NEST, the workers didn't get the memo. The Rep apologized and said he would come out (this was the next day). He was true to his word, but I already fixed the installation. However, while he really should have done better at making sure the crew new what to do, every thing else went great, and, as I was able to fix the problem easily, and they acted promptly to address the matter, I didn't ding them on the review. Basically, I was very happy with their service, or as happy as I could be after shelling out five grand (actually, a few hundred less than that) on an unexpected expense. The work and unit seems solid, they did their jobs well, and their price was fair. All the things one wants from the HVAC service.

We have hired them twice within the last year. The first time they replaced a coil that had went bad in our air conditioner. They also had to come out and repair a relay switch when we first turned the heat on. We had a couple misunderstandings as we thought they made sure heat worked during the last repair, but they did make good.

I called Duggan's One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning in response to an ad: "This month $252 Safety inspection, precision tune-up, and professional cleaning only 49.95.  That's right.  There is nothing to buy, and no obligation.  Just call this month and you can schedule this online special $252 value service for your air conditioner for only $49.95, as part of my Home Owners Appreciation Marketing Test...."   I scheduled and asked the woman I spoke to on the phone, "Does the cleaning include the evaporator coils?"  She said, "Yes."  No if, ands, or buts.....just "Yes." The technician inspected my evaporator coils and told me that because they were covered with dirt etc. that it would cost me more for them to be cleaned in place or that it would cost $250 to have them pulled out and cleaned.  So much for the "nothing to buy, no obligation."  I had some confidence that my coils would need cleaning and that is specifically why asked when I called.  If there were limitations and the coils would not be covered under some conditions, then don't say that they would be and imply that there is a $252 value.  That is not a lot to expect from an HVAC business. This is clearly a bait-and-switch ad.  The ad is not just misleading, it is blatantly false.  There is clearly no $252 value.  It forces me to wonder what this company does for $252, let alone 49.95.

Follow up:
They sent me a letter explaining the situation from their point of view. It seems like there was some communication errors. I still feel that their ad was a bit of a bait and switch, but they met me in the middle and gave me my $49 back. By them reimbursing me, I feel like I should say that they are not trying to cheat people. They are at least willing to work with you if you have any issues.
Response from Duggan's One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning
"We are sorry for the miscommunication. We have the Money Back Guarantee so customers can't loose doing business with us. This customer did not loose a dime. We have taken steeps to train the call takers in answering questions correctly and to verify what type of system the customer has. No heating and air company will uninstall a coil in a split system, remove the freon, clean the coil and reinstall and recharge the system for the same price of the tune-up. We will also be more clear on ads what is included."

3/2007 Without ac for 9 days. When we purchased unit we were promised they carried all replacement parts, not true. Repair person said it would take 2-3 hours to replace compressor-took 8.5 hours. Unit never worked correctly thereafter-obviously made a compressor work that was not for this unit. 7/2007 Without ac for 7 days in 100+ weather. In the process of replacing compressor they bent the louvers on the top 1/3 of unit horribly. Offered to repair at our expense. Tried to say it was already that way-which it was not. Tried to convince us we should have had unit placed somewhere else because water from roof runs there and freezes in winter. They decided where to place unit and we did not have any freezing rain last winter. 9/2007 Now they tell us that the warranty is only good before 6 pm weekdays that we have to pay for the service call on Saturday. Obviously they left it with a leak when they last replace compressor.
