"I am in shock to hear this. Let me see hear. The cabinet that they said was to big was marked on the wall and discussed with them up front. they also signed the contract with the specific dimensions. Once we brought it in the [removed member name]mother,([removed member name]), became very verbal. so we discussed that that was what was agreed on the contract. Expalined to her that we would fix it and change the size but seeing how its different form the contract there would be an additional fee. As for the cabinet we screwed to the wall that was my fault. In my opinion NO cabinet next to a stove should be movable. The customer also said they didn't want to put the proper Hood vent with the correct cfm's for the gas range. As for the piece of cardboard, allot of times in this industry, not all material is perfect. Some shimming is needed from time to time. The cardboard was NOT used to hold a shelf in place first of all, it was used to shim a hinge out of the cabinet that we had to redo for them (the pantry). On a final note if we did such a bad job why would Mrs, [removed member name] call us back to do additional work. At the time she called we were very busy with scheduled jobs, and couldn't get to her as fast as we or her would of liked. I am sorry if that is what caused this. We pride ourselves on our craftsmanship and professionalism. Truly sorry this customer wasn't happy. Just still don't understand, if we were that bad why call us back for additional work. Thank You Brian H. Stilgenbauer Owner"
We have had Brian and his crew working in our home on an off for 2+ years. We are in the process of remodeling our home - section by section - room by room. We found Brian after being robbed of over 5K by a shyster of a contractor...we were burned, burned, burned. Brian had the unfortunate task of coming in behind these creeps - ripping out everything they did and starting over. Not easy - considering we were extremely gun shy.
He has worked his way from the garage through our laundry room into our master bedroom, master bedroom closet, master bath room on into the hall and then into the guest bathroom. ALL of these rooms have been completely transformed by Brian. He has painted, laid tile (on floors and walls), patched walls, installed hard wood flooring, installed new windows, installed stone on one side of our fireplace, done a ton of plumbing and wiring, installed doors (regular and pocket), installed light fixtures, plumbing fixtures, and shower systems. He has put up with our craziness and insecurities and still managed to get the job done...
You have to be willing to work WITH Brian. For me this is a wonderful thing - he is always full of ideas - that usually are things that I have thought of but never thought possible.
We still have two bedrooms a great room and a kitchen to get through...Brian will be with us for the foreseeable future!!!
We remodeled three bathrooms and had to replace the upstairs subfloor due to settling issues after 30 years. Brian and his crew were selected after meeting with six other contractors. They were the ones who came in closest to our budget. We needed a general contractor who could remodel the bathroom as well as fix the sagging subfloor. Brian started off replacing the half bath and scheduled for a two week remodel. They had the tear out completed by the mid morning on the first day. They finished two days early and on budget. We then moved upstairs where we ripped out our two full bathrooms. We took off for a week while they worked on the remodel. They had both bathrooms ripped out on a Saturday afternoon on the first day. They sent us updates and pictures throughout the time we were gone. They were able to install most of the guest bathroom in the week we were gone. By the time we returned, they had the new bath installed in order to use it. It took almost a few days for them to finish this bathroom after we returned. There was a small inconvenience when we were trying to seal off the bathrooms. Each time we use the bathroom we are astonished at the details that Brian and his crew created.
After the guest bathroom was useable, the team proceeded to rip out the sagging old flooring and start the master bathroom renovations. This bathroom renovation had some of its own issues. We had to move the wall of the master bath out into the bedroom, where we added a pocket door, removed some of the old closet space. We went from a single lavatory to a his and hers. Brian was able to turn an old master bath which I had never used since I moved in two years prior into a place that I love to start and end my days. Brian's attention to detail was amazing. The floors were never going to be level, but Brian and his team were able to make them flat so that I could go back in and install the floors myself. He also had a brilliant idea to make two cabinets that would fit under the window, this gave us a nice place where we could sit and watch the deer in the front yard.
We had Brian make some custom cabinets for our bedrooms. We wanted to take advantage of some of the lost space where the the roof forms the doghouses. Brian was able to ensure that the walls and roof was properly braced, and created some beautiful cabinetry that provides us a place to store books.
Finally we asked Brian if he could give us recommendations for the stairwell. The stairwell had the original shag carpet on it with a very small rail. We had removed the shag carpet and found that the stairs were in good shape but did not match the bamboo flooring that we had installed. After talking to Brian about the prices for Bamboo Treads and installation, he told us that we could get some hardwood treads and match up the stain in order to make them look similar. He did a great job of matching up the looks and loved the work he completed. His attention to the small details like the stair end caps really set the stairwell apart now. The rail is now up to code in terms of height and ensuring that small kids can not get stuck between the rails.
If we saw something that needed to be touched up, we didn't like or just didn't work, we worked together to come up with a solution. Most of the time, he would see it himself, explain the issues and remedy it. The few times that we actually had an issue, Brian addressed that issue. Brian was upfront about repairs, costs and solutions. If we saw something (say a chipped mosiac tile, he would replace it.
The major issue for Brian (which is a good issue to have) is that Brian is normally booked up for a few months with other jobs so scheduling can be an issue. If you know that you are going to do some work, understand that this is a process. Unless you have major issues like a roof leak, you fell through the floor or the ceiling collapsed, major renovations don't just happen. Call him up, get an estimate but allow him to suggest things that you may not have thought about. If you consider that this is a process, renovations become much easier. He can help guide you with many of the renovations by scheduling meetings with local manufactures, recommending grout and paint colors, suggesting granite for the area based off of colors to be used.
I am not going to say that everything was rosey all the time, but the key was that we communicated with each other and anytime anything major arose, Brian listened and we sought solutions to the problems. A case in point was a local plumbing subcontractor that was used for this job. He overcharged for the work and wasn't always working when on the job. Brian called him out by saying that he was not being paid to sit around and talk. Brian at the end of the day, if he had to use a sub or recommend someone else to work on a job, was great about ensuring that our needs were met and that we were satisfied.
I would recommend Brian's Installations for your remodeling and repair needs.
I would hire Brian for any work on this house that needes to be done. He does not work FOR you.he works WITH you to make sure the end result is exactly what you wanted and are happy with the outcome. When I redo the kitchen, this company will be the one I call.
Overall it was a good experience. When they discovered a leak in the full bath, he called right away, described what they found, gave me an estimate of how much it would be to fix, and waited for my OK to continue. When they began to paint, he called and let me know that the color I picked out wasn't exactly the same after it was on the wall, so we changed the color. Since I don't live in the same state that the remodel was being done in, it was very important to keep the lines of communication open, which was easily done via phone calls and email. I am very satisfied with Brian's Installations LLC and will contact him again in the future. The finished product looks fantastic!! He has my highest recommendation.
