We originally contacted the owner to provide a garage addition but the price was more than we expected so we decided to proceed with the carport-to-garage conversion which also included electrical and plumbing systems being brought up to code. We really liked Kevin and his subs. They were very experienced and did a great job. Considering the amount of work we needed to complete ourselves the value jut wasn't there. We wanted to use the contractor for additional work but his price was just too high. I work for an architectural office in Atlanta so I know what the costs should be. Southern Contracting Group came in about 35-40% higher than they should have and there also appears to be an East Cobb factor contractors add to their price. I would like to use the Southern Contracting Group again if we could negotiate a reasonable price.

All proposals, contracts, and costs were spelled-out in detail by Kevin. He speaks plainly and treats me with respect, and is very knowledgeable of structural, electrical, finish, plumbing, and project management trades.
The job was successfully completed on time and budget with no suprises.

Kevin came in a provided an estimate in early April. It took about 3 weeks to get the estimate as the windows each needed to be made to order. When they came in, he told me that it would take 2 days to install and he was accurate in this. Additionally, he framed all windows and essentially created an outdoor room addition to our house.

There was nothing we didn't like about the guy. He was very good and we would recommend him to anyone. Out of the three quotes we got, he was the cheapest.

Unlike any other contractor I've ever hired, he was not only on time (10 minutes early!), he was also very professional and the quote he gave me was the price of the project - no hidden surprises. And he got it all done when he said he would - his professionalism exceeded my expectations. As a woman, I am very sensitive to how some contractors treat women clients (and how they can over-price things, thinking we don't know the difference?!), but I felt very comfortable with Kevin. I had called 2 other contractors about the work and his was the mid price (but close to the lower price); the comfort level he gave me, plus after talking with several of his references, reassured me that his was the best value and that he would back his work. I was very impressed that he did not treat my project as too small, and delivered the same respectful professionalism that he gave his clients who had him work on bigger renovation projects. The best part is that he was able to fix my water leak problems - I'd had a couple other contractors come over in the past to look at my basement and chimney leaks, and had been given exorbitant prices and no guarantee that their work would solve the problem. Kevin was really honest about the solutions he saw and then gave me a price that I thought was very fair. I I told him I want to add a screened porch onto my home, and he said he can help me design one that meets my vision and budget. Based on the quality of service he gave me, I am looking forward to working with him again and highly recommend his services!
