"I'm glad I had a chance to correspond with the Angie's List member on his rating. While I cannot help everyone obtain their mortgage, I'm happy when anyone is able to make their homeownership goals a reality. I always try to be straightforward and arrange the best fit and timing for my clients, not " just a mortgage". I try to only tell someone that I can help them secure a mortgage when I know that I can get it done. The last thing I want my clients to have is an expectation that I cannot live up to. In this case there were some things that I was not 100% comfortable with promising without additional research. From experience I know this helps us avoid frantic situations. This cautious approach has allowed me to provide clear objectives, timeframes and probable outcomes to my clients and referral partners. It is never good to get into a situation where everyone is expecting a loan, it cannot close and earnest money is at risk. That hurts all parties involved - buyer, seller, real estate agents. We work in time crunch situations, often, and can qualify most clients quickly when we receive the needed information. It is those times when this is not immediately possible, that we cannot issue a pre-approval letter in hopes of it working out later. We always want to be fair to all parties involved. Doing something less would lessen the value of a pre-approval from STELLAR. Our reputation is everything. When we say we can get someone their loan, we don't want clients, sellers and partners to think we are just "trying" to get a loan, but that we will deliver the closing on time without drama and fire drills. It was not the best fit for this member, although our approach has worked well for many satisfied clients."
