Arrived. Couldn't get the set screw out. Said they would have to come back and replace the valve from the back wall, $1200. Then hands me a bill for $125...for doing NOTHING. This used to be a great company. So sad.

After a less than satisfactory eexperience with another plumbing provider, I received a recommendation for Seagraves. I called and was able to secure an appointment in an extremely reasonable time frame. Also unlike other firms, they don't expect you to be available across a lengthy window of time during which they may arrive. The plumbers arrived promptly, were very knowledgeable and professional, and got everything taken care of. Would definitely recommend.

They were very thorough and very prompt. They told me everything they were going to do and explained what was going on my septic tank. They were very professional and reliable. and they would even call me en route and let me know how far away they were from my home.

"Thank you so much for your positive feedback regarding SEAGRAVES PLUMBING. I am pleased that you will call us again and refer us in the future and we will always strive to give you the best service possible. Even though you felt our prices deserved a "B", we do continuously strive to be competitive with our prices. In the future, please feel free to discuss your concern with our technician and I feel sure he will discuss the reason for the cost he quotes and if possible reduce it if at all possible. Thanks again for allowing us to serve your plumbing needs and we look forward to serving you in the future."

They showed up on time and pumped the tank. No problems with the crew. My issue is price. I decided to go with Seagraves this time just because they put in my septic field in 1997 and I thought they would be interested in giving me a good report card look at system. I had to ask crew to give me a qualitative judgement on system and comments they put on my receipt were very minimal--"tank holding normal water levels with minimal solids". Since Seagraves is the high priced provider I was expecting more expertise, more discussion and details regarding my system. I will go with $300 vendor next time. Also I used their website to schedule a pump several weeks before but did not get a callback or email. Based on lack of confirmation, I made a phone call and scheduled the work on telephone. Conclusion: with these kinds of services always use the telephone and talk to human.

"So sorry that you were unhappy with our price and quality of work. We have been in business 76 years and two of the crew members that were at your house have been with us more than 25 years each. I have never had a complaint regarding their expertise or discussion of the system. Usually they are anxious to set the homeowner's mind at ease. As far as our prices go, we have no hidden costs and we have not increased our pump charges in about 5 yrs. I have been told that some other companies (not all) often quote a lesser charge on the phone but begin adding $$$$ on the job site. Again, I am so sorry that we disappointed you but will keep your comments in mind and continue to strive to give the very best possible service. Your business is greatly appreciated."

Water heater for garage apartment was leaking badly.  Quickly asked trusted work colleagues for a trusted and recommended plumber.  "Call Seagraves."  Communicating with the office, scheduling the appointment, etc. all went fine.  Two guys came, replaced my 12yr old unit with a new equivalent.  At which point I realized I had neglected to ask up front how much this was going to cost.  I take responsibility for that mistake.  From cursory research I believed a new unit would be a few hundred dollars at HD/LOW retail.  Seagraves said, "That'll be $1,100."  "Really?"  Yes; that was their flat fee for water heater replacement.
I certainly am not well versed in plumbing materials and labor costs, so my judge of value may not be reasonable.  They did remove the old unit, and that is certainly necessary.  But $1,100 seemed steep for the unit + 45-60 minutes worth of work.  Based on my one experience, Seagraves struck me as great for the "just get it done" job - I don't want to have to think or worry about quality or professionalism...just get it done...and I'm willing to pay some premium for that assurance.

$75

I called them because I needed services on the dishwasher. He couldn't fix it.

Also I asked him to look at the stove because one of the igniters was not working. When the ried to turn the igniter on, it immediately worked. So there was no need to fix it and I was still charged $35 for diagnostic!!

His visit was a total of $75 for NOT fixing the dishwasher and diagnostic of the igniter that was NOT broken,

Not happy with their service at all!!

We had a broken valve in our irrigation system, and when we turned off what we thought was the irrigation line, we ended up cutting water to the whole house. When we tried to turn it back on, the knob broke. I left a message with Seagraves around 10 PM, and by noon the next day, they had replaced the valve (with a much more durable valve). Highly recommend them.

Everything went fine. They dig out the septic tank the old fashioned way, with shovels. No one tries to up-sell me. I use Seagraves every 5 years even if there are no apparent problems, and this schedule has worked wonders. No problems, ever in 20+ years. They are punctual and well informed. TIPS: Tell them when your driveway is on an incline. Tell them how far the septic tank is from the driveway. Mine is pretty far away but it was no problem for them. But, they DO need to know how far away it is so they can bring extra hoses if needed. TIP They will need a garden hose to be brought to the rear of the truck in case of any leakage - to keep down the odor.

"Thank you so much for allowing us to send our septic crew to your home. We try to treat our customers as we would like to be treated and it is wonderful when customers like yourself notice. Thank you for allowing us to serve you and will look forward to serving you in the future. Your "tips" were greatly appreciated and will be passed on to our crew. Thanks again and keep in mind that we do have full line plumbing with master plumbers on staff to serve you."
