Rue Trim & Remodel

I joined this site just to warn others about this carpenter. He agreed (and signed a contract) to custom build a wetbar in my home. He said it would take a week or two to complete and months later it is still not done. In fact, he did some initial work on the bar (built a frame) and then abandoned the project (and took my $1000 deposit). It was agreed that he would complete the entire project for $1750 with a $1000 deposit. After months of his avoiding us and making appointments and then not showing up, he confessed that he had used our money to pay off debt he owed to a door company instead of ordering the doors for our project. We confirmed this with the door company. He has told us that he no longer has the money to complete our project! We have a semi-completed wetbar with no doors, shelves and the countertop is just laying on the bar and he is not going to finish it. I have never seen such unprofessionalism ever and would like to warn whoever reads this NOT to use this carpenter. I fell for a pretty website when I should have looked at reviews but there were none on this person at the time. Update: I had initially given Matt Rue an F due to his abandonment of the project he had started. We hired someone else to complete the job and it had cost an additional $300. Matt Rue did contact us and negotiated a settlement so I have upgraded him to a C. He did remedy the situation.
