==========================================
I had them fix a frozen pipe that took 10 minutes to fix and paid a premium price for it. They charged me more than the normal price because of the demand from the freeze weather. I was ok with that. I gave them my credit card to charge. They charged my credit card 2 times! I called and left voice mail to them immediately. I also spoke to the owner Alan. He promised to take care of the issue immediately, but has not taken care of it in the 5 days since it happened! I had to file a dispute with the credit card company. I was a repeat customer with this company and gave them business 3 times within a year. I'll now stay clear of this company!
"we did refund and its takes 5 business days. sorry this was during the freeze Atlanta had and we had been working 18 hrs. non stop for days in the cold and wet weather. we AMERICAN`S get paid to work"
My initial contact with Ridgeway was perfect. In fact, I couldn't believe how well the service was going considering the size of the job I was coordinating. My initial plumber was David, he showed up on time, gave a fair quote and came back to complete the initial portion of the job with no incident.
The first visit included the installation of the gas line for a new gas range, installation of new water line for pot filler and capping existing water lines in preparation for cabinet installation.
I was invoiced $800 for the initial portion of the job which was charged to my credit card.
When I received my statement, I noticed that I was charged TWICE for the service. No big deal, these things happen. So I called the company to resolve and Chris said that she only charged my card once. Again, no big deal; I simply filed a dispute with AMEX and they took care of everything...all parties satisfied.
PART 2
After the cabinets and countertops had been installed, I called back to schedule what should have been the easy part of this service. Reinstalling the dishwasher, installing customer supplied faucet and pot filler were to cost $400 and take a few hours to complete.
Attempt 1: My appointment time was 8am on 12/15. At 7:45am, I was a little surprised to receive a call from the office "confirming my appointment time". However, it was apparent that they had no idea what they were supposed to come out and do nor were they clear on how much I was quoted for the service. I had to tell them.
Then Jaime and Jaime showed up. Again, I was surprised because I LOVED David and the work he'd done. No worries, I'd give these guys a chance; they seemed nice enough and one of the Jaimes was supposedly "a manager". Unfortunately, they wouldn't complete the service because the tile backsplash had not been installed (which prevented the pot filler install). They also said that they electrical wires - which had simply been pushed under the floor during construction - needed to be pulled up through the floor and cabinet by an electrician in order to install the disposal and dishwasher. Frustrating, but okay.
Attempt 2: Once I'd done what they asked, I called back and was scheduled for 12/23 between 10-2. You guessed it, noone showed up. I called shortly after 2pm, and was told that Jaime was working on Pharr Road and would be at my place in about 15-20 minutes. I even skipped leaving for lunch to make sure I didn't miss them. But, Jaime never showed up and no one ever called to say he'd be delayed.
I called back around 4pm and was told that Jaime "would call me". Not sure what that meant, but okay. I bet you can guess what happened next. No show and no call. I'm not a happy camper. I understand that things happen. As a paying customer, I was tremendously disappointed at the poor customer service and lack of communication.
Attempt 3: I called back first thing 12/24 to find out what happened and was told (not asked mind you) that my appointment had been rescheduled for Monday, 12/29 at 8am.
Wait...what?
So before I "go in" on the complete disregard for customer service and lack of professionalism, let me first say that the guy that is now handling inbound phone calls is not the same person that I was dealing with during PART 1. As he refused to give me his name, I'll refer to him as "Disrespectful Company Rep" since the name I would call him involves profanity which is frowned upon in this forum.
So I asked the Disrespectful Company Rep to explain since no one ever called me to reschedule the appointment. The most intelligent response he could muster was, "Uhhh..Jaime didn't call you?" After several rounds with this "intellectual" all I could gather was that someone at Ridgeway had taken it upon themselves to move the appointment without regard to my schedule, my availability or the fact that they had screwed up my initial appointment the day before.
I asked Disrespectful Company Rep if they could send someone else instead of Jaime, surely there's more than one technician that works there. Still, no satisfaction. I guess Disrespectful Company Rep used up the last of his 3 brain cells to tell me that Jaime was on a tractor on some huge job in some other part of the city. He could try and text him, but...he probably wouldn't respond. I simply took that to mean that my job was too small and the commitment they'd made to it not significant to warranty a remedy to the havoc they'd caused to our Christmas plans.
Disrespectful Company Rep lacked any motivation to escalate my service call, offer an apology for the inconvenience or the lack of coordination within their organization. After the 3rd delivery of, "Uhhhh...Jaime was supposed to call you." I ceremoniously hung up the phone...yes, in his face.
Attempt 4: So a week has passed and it's the morning of 12/29 at 8am. By 9am no one has called and no one has shown up. The ONLY thing I want for Christmas is for Disrespectful Company Rep NOT to answer the phone when I call to inquire.
No such luck.
Again, I've had pet rocks smarter than this guy so having an intelligent conversation is more than a challenge. Again, there is no record of the appointment. He has no idea what the job is about. Needless to say, I am LIVID! After all of this customer contact you're still asking me to describe the job that is supposed to be performed? Really? No, seriously...REALLY?
Did I raise my voice...ABSOLUTELY.
Did I ask to speak to a manager...ABSOLUTELY. (Apparently there are no owners or managers at Ridgeway since Disrespectful Company Rep refused to allow me to speak with any one in a position of authority at the company.)
The only response I received from the Disrespectful Company Rep was that they were "trying to schedule" an appointment for me on last week, but I hung up on him. I'm perplexed. How can that be when YOU were the one that TOLD ME that the appointment had automatically been rescheduled for the very day I'm calling to inquire about? I never once canceled the appointment or asked them not to come.
I suspect that Disrespectful Company Rep was feeling EXTRA in touch with his feminine side since the only response he had to my inquiries was that I should stop yelling at him. Seriously?
Let me just say that I would never....hear me clearly NEVER contact Ridgeway Mechanical again to provide any service for me or even my worse enemy.
If you desire even an average level of customer service, professionalism, punctuality and communication from a service provider, then Ridgeway Mechanical is NOT the company for you.
I swear I would GLADLY welcome DAVID back into my home to complete the job, even after they bad mouthed him both over the phone and in my home. Not cool....not professional.
Believe me, I will continue to personally spread this message within my community, as well as my personal and professional networks.
STAY AWAY FROM RIDGEWAY!!!
"eat more chicken"
I highly recommend this company! The work they did was excellent, as was the personal experience of dealing with the staff. They endeavor to leave a place better than they found it, and while this could sound questionable coming from other than an idealistic cub scout, in this case, you should believe and rejoice!
Not only did they accomplish excavating, removing, and replacing our non-functional pipe for a very competitive price (yes, we shopped around with 4 other estimates), they also completed the job in ONE day. They brought out their whole team so they could get the job completed. I also appreciated that they did not promise a same day job completion, they said it could take 2, and that would have been reasonable. It says a lot about them that they decided to make an effort to get it all completed in one day.
I mentioned in the section above that they were very conscientious in terms of excavating the minimal amount of flooring, carefully moving any furniture, etc. They took the time to dig a hill out (manually) and refill it (manually) instead of telling us the only option was to destroy out retaining wall. They even sprayed down the concrete areas on our driveway and patio where any mud had been tracked.
Lastly, all of the staff were very upfront, professional, well-informed, patient, and willing to explain any questions we had. During the estimate process they were not pushy and did not try to convince us that unless we hired them immediately, our plumbing system would immediately go bust, which others may or may not have done...
In short, A+
