The rebuilding work was professionally done with good workmanship.
There were some annoyances in terms of the mold remediation department handing over to the team that handled the rebuilding of the wall and ceiling. They seemed to be disconnected at times and there were a few instances when I wasn't sure what the situation was in terms when the work would start, etc.
Also, after the rebuilding work was supposedly done, I had to call them back to remind them to rehang the ceiling fan, which was still lying on the floor. Also, in doing the work, the workers noticed a small part of the floor had been damaged due the original water problem. I took their recommendation to repair that section, too. They did a good job repairing the under-floor joist, but the small section of hardwood flooring was never replaced. I didn't mention it to them, so my fault. But it would have been good if they had brought that to my attention. I had the impression that with the small bit of hardwood flooring and the ceiling fan, they were ready to move on their next project before they were quite done with me. But they responded immediately when I called about the ceiling fan.
Also, their business office seemed a bit disorganized. I had to ask for a statement when it came time to pay the balance of the bill. Then all they sent me was a document merely stating the balance... with no indication of the deposit I had already made and the grand total. That seemed rather unprofessional. I asked for a proper statement with that information on it, and they emailed it immediately. Later that day, I called the office to see if they would take a Discover credit card in payment. Whoever I was talking to did not know, and it took a couple of minutes to find out. That's not a big deal. But coming right after the kind of dodgy statement they had first sent, I wasn't impressed with the business office. Maybe it was just a bad day there, and in the end it had no effect on the actual work they had done.
In summary, the work was done well, but once it was handed over to the construction team, I had to pay attention to what was going on because they didn't seem totally on top of things.
I'd give them an A- if I could. But I'm a nice guy. Someone else might give them a B+.
"Although it is troubling to hear such a report, we feel as though a response is necessary. This client hired us to work on a covered insurance loss. This process requires us to negotiate both the scope of work and the contract price back and forth with the insurance adjuster. Unfortunately, in this instance the delays in the project were due to the client’s insurance company not authorizing our estimate and scope of work in a timely fashion. The client should be upset with her insurance company for taking an unusual and, frankly, unreasonable amount of time to authorize and approve our estimates. In the mold business, there are certain liabilities, practices, and procedures that are set forth by third-party professionals and industry standards. The protocol laid out by this third-party company was not in line with the client’s personal timeline which caused her some frustration. The customer’s displeasure with the timeline of her project was unduly taken out on our staff and personnel despite our attempts to coordinate the schedules of several parties during the Holiday Season. It is also important to note that all third-party testing (which is necessary to ensure that our work was done correctly) passed and that all budgets were approved and paid for in full by the insurance company. The end result is a job that Remediation Group, Inc. is proud to stand behind. With that being said, our take-away from this project is that we must set client expectations as much as possible up front and keep the client updated and apprised of any and all deviations from those initial expectations. Remediation Group, Inc. prides itself in customer service and regrets that we were unable to serve this customer in the manner she expected."
