I have seen a few of the vets here but my preferred is Dr Pogue, who carried out this surgery on my 13yr old cat. Dr Pogue has a good 'bedside manner' with my cats - confident but not 'rough' when examining them. Clear in her diagnoses, takes time to explain and answer questions. Suggests treatment options but I never get the sense that she is pushing in any particular direction. Recognizes that cost is a considerations.
Scheduling this surgery was easy, email reminder was sent and office staff called the day before to walk me through pre-op instructions. Call from Dr Pogue post-surgery, clear guidance from technician on care when I picked up my cat, follow up call a couple days later from another tech to make sure all is okay, then another call from Dr Pogue with biopsy results.
I know this was a surgery so you expect the follow up calls, but my experience is that the vets and techs here do the follow ups even for 'minor' issues.
Price isn't cheap, but I've been to a few vet offices in my time and Pharr Rd is no worse than any other offering the same standard of care.

We've been working with Dr. Bosworth at Pharr Road, and just LOVE her. The office is modern, the vets and vet techs are knowledgeable and patient. Dr. Bosworth has spent considerable time discussing treatment options with me via phone for my dog, and listens to my feedback. She makes recommendations taking into consideration my preferences and directions. I also like that they have both eastern and western treatment options available, and will do titers vs. vaccines. I will be taking my other 2 dogs there as they need vet care.

. They have been our vet ever since. I love the doctors and the staff. They are very attentive and truly care about our pets. One of the doctors gave me her cell number "just in case" I need it. It's not cheap and sometimes I put things off because I can't afford the service. But they are good diagnosticians and have always been great to us.

My wife Maggie had been a client of Dr. Petty's for many years before we married, when he was practicing alone. That was in the middle 1970s. The practice has since moved and grown, we have had at least a dozen animals since that first cat, the veterinary staff has expanded, and yet the personal, caring, intimate atmosphere, the incredibly talented vets, the capable and friendly techs and the efficient "front office" experts have only gotten better with time. I can't imagine using any other vet, even though we now live about 40 miles away! There are vets on staff who are trained in acupuncture and Chinese traditional medicine as well as "classic" veterinary methods. In the rare case where an illness or injury is beyond their capabilities they have a fine network of specialists to whom they can refer you. Your pets could be in NO better hands than those of the vets at Pharr Road Animal Hospital. They are a local treasure!

I have used them for a long time. They provide excellent service and care about the animals. I have used them really since 1972. They are very knowledgeable, very concerned about the animals, and good credentials. I have seen both Dr. Teddy and Dr. Winokur.

We have been taking Pinky to the Pharr Road Hospital for almost 5 years. I must say Pinky is 5 years and 1 month.
Since the very beginning we start going to the Vet because she was scratching all the time and after several lab results she was diagnosed to be very allergic. Since then, cortizone was prescribed (either in pills or they will put her a shot) every time she had an allergy event. On Nov. 2012 we took PInky to the vet because we thought she had a urinary infection because she was taking large amounts of water and peeing everywhere inside our home. To our surprise Pinky was diagnosed with DIABETES. So I had to learn to give her a shot of insuline every 12 hours and start having a special diet and a special schedule to feed her. Dr. Petty requested to leave her a complete day to check her Blood Glucose Curve (11/26/12) so we could travel outside the country as we always do for Christmas. The FDA gaved us the permit to travel with Pinky in the cabin and we arrived to Chile. As per Dr. Petty's instructions, the first thing we did was to take Pinky to the Vet so they could take her the blood glucose curve exam again. As soon as he saw her he told us that he beleived that Pinky should be referred to a Veterinary Endocrinologist that had just arrived from the US because he was almost 100% sure that Pinky had CUSHING SYNDROME. This is a severe decease that is caused for taking large and extended dosis of CORTISONE. After lab exams , MRI's, Blood Glucose Curves, Antibiotics, Insulin shots every 12 hours and changing again the schedule to feed her the Zoosanitary Agriculture Ministry of Chile and the Veterinary Endocrinologist has diagnosed Pinky Iatrogenic Cushing Syndrome and Diabetes Mellitus I plus Cronic Pancreas Decease, not mention that this has destroyed Pinky and our lives, not to mentioned the hundreds or may I say thousands of dollars that this has cost to us so far. I send Dr. Petty a letter outlining this information with all the exams to prove this situation to hime. Nearly 1 week later Dr. Petty call me. He did not apologize, offer sympathy or support for a condition that he did not diagnose correctly. All he stated was that his lab was not able to detect the conditionS. After thousands of dollars of expense we are now confronted with years of pet care with 2 shots of insulin a day and on-going exams. The behavior of this veterinary doctor is NOT ACCEPTABLE.

My experience has been excellent. They are very capable and personable. The $100 they charged me for the last visit includes the cost of medication I got from them.

I seem to find a lot of stray or lost animals. This is not my regular vet who is farther away but who I have a good established relationship with. I have taken multiple lost or stray animals to this clinic for microchip scans. They are always friendly, helpful, and kind. They scan every inch of the animal to make sure a chip can be found if there is one. They never charge anything for this service. This is highly appreciated and has resulted in several nice reunions of lost pets with owners.

We have a one and a half year old male border collie (Jake) and I was extremely tentative about going to a new vet; however, i was pleasantly surprised. The front desk staff was extremely professional and friendly, and they made me feel as though I'd been going there for years. The doctor and technicians were very helpful and patient with Jake's tentativeness. The doctor was efficient enough that he didn't waste my time yet he didn't make me feel as though he was rushing through my appointment to get to another. Also, when I was discussing Jake's food he didn't try to sell me on some expensive brand. I highly recommend this office.

We have a standard Coolie dog and a cat. They are very professional and we are satisfied with the care they provide to our pets. I would highly recommend them. Our dog had some infections. So they ran some tests and diagnosed the problem. We will continue to use them. We also have a neighbor who uses them

We love our veterinarian. They are wonderful with the animals and really treat you like family. They keep up with our records and let us know the next time to come in. They are great with my dog and always do a complete check up on him.

I have been taking my two dogs and three cats there for over ten years. They are good, caring Doctors, and I am very pleased with them. I know that they do provide other services such as boarding, but my pets have never stayed overnight. I paid approximately $200 for each dog.

I liked this hospital. The way they received me and how they treated my dog. I did not make an appointment with them but they took me in. I thought it was expensive. I am considering taking him somewhere else in future.

There are three vets at this location. I have seen them all at different times. All of them are great! They treat me and my dogs good. I have taken my dogs in the past several times to them when they were sick. I always received the best treatment.
