Dennis came out last week to give us an estimate on taking down 6 large trees and grinding the stumps. Price was WELL BELOW the other company called to give us an estimate. We signed the contract for Northside the next day! He had his fantastic team out here right on time this morning and, after rechecking the details of the contract with us, they got started immediately. Very courteous, very fast, completely professional, and had no problem with us sitting out there to watch the trees come down! Precision dropping- no section of any tree ever landed anywhere except exactly where they intended. Clean up by Northside was excellent as well. Their stump grinder service came after they had left and, though he used a blower to bring the much of the ground mulch to one section of the driveway, we ultimately had to get out there with shovels and rakes to get it all up ourselves, bag it, and haul it to the dump. We just ended up leaving all the mulch in the backyard for another time - it was getting hot! We would still definitely use Northside again - but we would probably try to make sure the stump grinder guy comes BEFORE Northside leaves so we can put the mulch in their trucks!

Since I hadn't heard anything from Dennis after several days, I called again on the 19th of March and left a message. Repeated this attempt the next day, left another message. Tried one more time on the 23rd, left a message, and then said to myself, "Why am I doing this?" So I looked on Angie's List again and tried another company, who answered right away, came out to the house two days later to give an estimate. Maybe Northside Tree has so much business they can afford to blow off a customer, but it was very annoying and unprofessional and I won't be calling them again.

The arborist, Dennis, is very responsive and returned calls immediately. We chose Northside over two other companies due to price. They came out and cut down the two trees and ground the one extra stump. However, they did not initially grind the stumps to the two trees. I called that evening and they were out the next day. Now my only complaint (and my "fault" that I didn't read the fine print on the back of the proposal): unless you specifically ask and pay extra, they leave the ground stump chips. One of the other companies we reviewed included removal in their price. Northside does not. So now, I have a large pile of ground up tree in my front yard.

I was very pleased with the service overall...much more so than the service I used last year. They were very throrough, including the removal of kindling I was storing on the side of my house for my fire pit...ooops!

I was extremely pleased with the work that was done. it was a great job and I will use them again. I have used several other contractors in the past for tree maintenance and removal and Northside Tree Professionals is by far the best.

Two crews came at 10 am on a Friday morning and they were out of here before 3 pm. It was a little bit before they anticipated. They cleaned up beautifully. There were a dozen workers and they were all very, very courteous. The foreman was very knowledgeable and very nice. They were well dressed. They didn't do any damage to the house. They did a great job. We will use them again and have recommended them to several people.

They did an excellent job and I would recommend using this company.

Dennis was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and a very pleasant person. We just moved to the Decatur area from out of state and I was concerned with the health of the rather tall Poplar trees right next to our house. Dennis assessed our yard, described the different kinds of trees we have back there, and told us what to look for to indicate that the trees may be diseased. After walking around our property he gave us a clean bill of health and said he would touch base again in the spring when we may want to trim back some of the branches above our house. I will absolutely use Northside Tree Professionals for continued tree maintenance.

Job went well. they workers showed up on time and went straight to work. Trees were taken down quickly and all debris was removed and area cleaned up. Two trees were taken down and removed, one tree that had partially fallen was taken down and removed and 2 other trees were pruned

The arborist, Dennis, gave me a written estimate and job was scheduled for 12/21/12. Elmer and crew arrived on a very cold, windy morning and completed the work in about 4 hours. All debris was removed and yard was raked and cleaned up. Very professional. Excellent work. Will use Northside in the future.

Certified Arborist Dennis Tourangau came out and discussed the dead and hazardous trees we needed removed. It was easy to schedule a date for the job. A couple of the trees were up to 90' tall. They were situated in a fenced back yard, up a steep hill and we did not want a heavy truck cracking the driveway. Elmer was the crew leader and he did an excellent job. You would have never known any thing was done after they left. The crew was very careful and worked extremely hard. We are very impressed with this company. Second time we have used them.

The work went well and was quick. They got everything cleaned up.

The project was completed from start to finish in clockwork fashion. Each team member knew his role and executed it professionally. Dennis Tourangeau, the arborist and manager was knowledgeable, attentive to detail, and dedicated to delivering customer satisfaction.

The owner and his team showed up on time with crane, chipper, bobcat, etc. Quiet the event!! I was introduced to everyone and given a brief run down of what to expect. The owner received an emergency call and had to leave about an hour into the job, however most of the tree was already cut down by this time and his supervisor and entire team were more than capable of completing the project. They were great to work with. I was highly impressed with the level of expertise the men demonstrated. Quite amazing! I had requested they leave some wood chips and they were very good to place the chips inside the fence for my convenience. The clean up was a little disappointing. I spent about 40 minutes in the front yard after they left cleaning up small debris and still have some other areas to work on, including a little debris on the roof in front of the house. Also, I would highly recommend if you have flower beds under the tree or near the tree being cut, have them place a piece of tarp over it. As I had to blow out the beds and will buy more nuggets redo the area. With this said, I would definitely use them again. In the future, I would have the term ?clean- up? defined in the proposal as well as list any precautionary measures such as tarping that could preserve any areas. On a scale from 1-10, Professionalism, Punctuality,Responsiveness, and Courteous - 10+++ On a scale from 1-10, rating Clean-Up - 3.5.

We could not be happier with Northside and their work! The crew arrived on time, were incredibly efficient, and were all very polite. The quality of work was fantastic - we have a somewhat difficult backyard to get into which required them to remove portions of our fence (which were expertly replaced at the end of the job) as well as guide the trees very carefully as they were taking them apart and the process couldn't have gone smoother! The skill of the men that climb the trees was amazing and the crew working with them on the ground were great as well. In the end we feel the crew went above and beyond what was expected - in addition to the work we had discussed they also knocked out dead branches from surrounding trees, cleaned the entire backyard after the trees were removed, and blew off our large leaf-covered front yard. Additionally, after receiving several estimates from various companies Northside was open to negotiating their price and we feel the price was well worth it for all of the work performed. We HIGHLY recommend Northside Tree Professionals and look forward to working with them again in the future!

Dennis, an arborist, came out to give me an estimate at the appointed time. When I did not hear him at the door, he graciously agreed to come out a second time for the appointment. The office faxed the liability and workman's comp policies that I requested and they checked out. The price the Dennis quoted was very reasonable and the 5% discount for 1st time Angie's List customers made it the most competitive. A large crew arrived promptly on the day that the work was scheduled to be done. Dennis went over with them all of the work that had been agreed on. A number of them were English speaking and it was very easy for me to communicate with them as the morning wore on. The men were very couteous, careful in the way that they went about their work, and pleasant to deal with. The entire experience more than met my expectations and I couldn't have been more pleased.

Our front yard has a beautiful center island with two old, tall trees that anchor the front landscaping. One of the trees has been suffering for the past few years. We asked for Arborist experienced companies to look at the tree and tell us if it needs to be removed. All said it needed to be removed. It is very close to our house and we wanted to prevent any needless damage and protect our Home Owner's Insurance policy. I contacted 4 other tree companies. Dennis Tourangeau of Northside Tree Professionals was prompt, courtous and knowledgable.We discussed options and pricing and he wrote up a detailed proposal. After 4 other estimates, I decided to use Northside Tree Professionals because from the first inquiring phone call to the scheduled estimate, Dennis showed me what the others were simply telling me. We required special handling and Dennis was extremely cooperative. In fact he exceeded out expectations, over delivered and did it all within budget. The man has integrity and does what he says he is going to do and a then a little more. That is hard to find. Elmo the crew boss, was insync with Dennis and communicated issues as they came up always providing a safe and creative solution followed by a smile and handshake. He personally moved and replanted our plants and then watered them. Come on... who does that today. I could tell these guys have a strong desire to do the right thing. Everything turned out better than promised. The stump grinder arrived within the hour to finish the jobs final touch. Dennis drove back by to check on the progress, I think he checked on us 3-4 times that day after introducing us to Elmo that morning. I was very happy with the final invoice and felt I got a great value. As a small business owner, I appreciate and patronize other small business who keep legal, insured, skilled workers on their payrolls who are competitive and offer outstanding services. We all need to do our part to keep this country great and Northside Tree Professionals are doing that! Great team, will definitely recommend and use them again.

We have a heavily wooded yard in excess of 2 acres in an older neighborhood near Emory University. I originally called Northside to take down a 100' tall poplar (not a typo) that had snapped in half during a severe storm, with the top half caught in a large oak tree by the creek. They came by the next day, in the rain, and took the tree down in less than an hour, preventing further damage to other trees in the area. We asked them to come by the next week to give us an estimate for taking down several other trees that were dying and/or presented an immediate danger to our house, and they responded the following day. Their price was very reasonable, and one week later a crew of six individuals came to the house at 7 am and cut down or limbed more than 10 trees, ground the stump of a 36" oak that had fallen the year before, removed and chipped all of the waste, and blew the driveway clean, after which the supervisor walked through the yard with me to verify that all of the work had been done correctly. The work was excellent, and they were gone by 1 pm. I was present while they were working, absolutely fascinated by the process, and very impressed with the expertise of the workers and the safety measures taken. This company is old school, accessible and professional. I cannot recommend them highly enough!

North Side Tree does great work. The crew were very prompt, professional, and careful. All the work was performed to satisfaction, the price was exactly as quoted, no attempts to upsell, and the yard was left as clean as it was before they got here.Definitely an A performance company. Would recommend that the home owner always be there when a tree company is working to answer any questions they may have. They had a lot of questions and recommendations and I am glad I was there to supervise.

Excellent job as described above

A tree came crashing down in the back yard about 8 am, narrowly missing my house and rear deck. This large tree destroyed three other trees, one of them being bent to where it could have fallen on my house. I was very concerned about the leaning tree being a danger to my house. I called Northside Tree Professionals, who had done some tree trimming and removal for me several years prior. Within 10 minutes Mark, one of their Reps, called me back, and he was at my house within the hour. By 2 pm that afternoon, a crew of 8 men were out at the house, and they had the trees cut up and hauled away within 2 hours. The guys were courteous, and cleaned up the debris and branches quickly and efficiently. I feel the price was very reasonable.

Monday morning, we heard a loud noise and discovered a crack in one of the major limbs of the maple which grows through a hole in the center of our deck. I referenced Angie's List and called 3 tree services recommended. They all returned my calls and gave estimates. In the end, we went with Northside Tree Service. Even though their bid was not the lowest, we know that it was money well spent. We were extremely pleased with this company at every point of the experience! Dennis returned my initial call the same day and intelligently communicated with me about our situation. He was obviously knowledgable about trees and very professional in talking with me. He came out the next day to assess the situation, answer my questions and give an estimate. Being informed and assured about our situation made me feel more comfortable and confident before the work even started. When the crew came out and did the work, they exceeded my expectations as well. They were here promptly the following morning. The crew chief, like Dennis, was appropriately professional and yet personal. He took me through a walk-through of the job answering any questions I had and clarifying exactly what would be done. The entire crew was respectful of our property and our preferences for the work being done. They worked diligently and skillfully to get the job done in a precise and efficient manner. I felt that each member was attentive to safety and thoroughness. Likewise, I was extraordinarily impressed with their clean up. They not only cleaned up the debris from their work, but picked up all the branches that had fallen before they came and cleared our entire driveway, roof and deck with the blower. We requested that the larger portions of limb be left for firewood. They cut the logs into 12-14 inch sections, asked where I wanted it and stacked it neatly there. The smaller portions were mulched and taken away. They left our property better than they found it and made a great impression!

I called multiple companies to get estimates and had a wide range of estimates and proposals for what needed to be done. NORTHSIDE TREE PROFESSIONALS gave me the best estimate and even threw in a smaller dead tree that I was going to take care of personally. Since they had quite a few good reviews on Angie's List, I decided to go with them despite rarely going with the cheapest estimate for anything. I was very concerned about the biggest tree as the biggest of the dead limbs was hanging over my house. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to take off work to be there when they were going to do the work. I was able to schedule a time when my parents were able to be over so I had someone there to watch. They were very impressed and even took pictures of the work being done so I could see. I came home wondering what I would see. What I saw was GREAT! I didn't have them grind the stump so was expecting the stumps to be pretty noticeable. The only one that you even notice is the one for the big tree and it is very low to the ground and extremely flat (would have made a great table if it were taller... LOL! glad they cut it close to the ground though). The only reason it is noticeable is that it is close to the house and in a bare spot since it had been so big. I was so impressed as I had had some smaller trees cut down many years ago and the company I used previously left the stumps quite tall. They took everything away, including some extra brush I had laying around in the backyard. WONDERFUL SERVICE! Another thing I was impressed with was that Dennis (who I spoke with about the work) said that they would leave an invoice for me and I didn't have to pay until I came home and approved the work. WOW! Other places want payment waiting for them. I had absolutely no hesitation approving the work and sending in my payment. Although, I wish I hadn't lost those trees nor had to spend the money to have them removed, I was thoroughly satisfied with all aspects of NORTHSIDE TREE PROFESSIONALS, from the initial contact, to the estimation, to the actual work, to payment. I would absolutely use them again and recommend them to anyone needing this type of service.

They came out with the estimate, and after the fact, we decided on a few more services... even deciding on some of them the day they arrived. They didn't overcharge us for add-on services - still gave us a fair price. I will say that there was a mis-understanding of the tree-removals, where I thought the stumps would be removed too for the overall price (it wasn't, it was an add on expense - but the add-on was not bad at all - only $75 for 3 tree stumps)... when I called Dennis about it to ask - he was very nice and just took the $75 right off the bill since there was a misunderstanding. There was no haggling, no fuss, no issue- he just offered it immediately. This company is very prompt, professional and easy to work with. I probably should have had more trees trimmed up while they were here instead of just doing the "big" stuff. I will use them again though.
