MIDTOWN TIRE INC

Had issues with Lower Control Arm.  I had a estimate at another shop for $746.  I called Midtown tires and asked what they would charge to replace the Lower Control Arms and Alignment.  They stated $780 over the phone, so I decided to take it to their shop the following morning.  I dropped the car off at 730am and ask if they could confirm that is what the car needed.  At 1230pm, I got a call stating that the Control Arms did need replacing along with Alignment (Same work that I asked a estimate for), except the cost would be a minimum of $1,100, depending on the work involved it could be higher.  I asked how the estimate could increase almost 50% from 24 hrs previous.  The gentlemen could not explain how I got the original estimate and I did not remember the name of the person I spoke to the first time.  This was going to be a minimum amount charge and could go higher.  Since the phone estimate was nearly identical to the previous estimate I got at another shop, and the exact same work was needed, I am confused by the large difference in estimates within 24 hrs.  I was not comfortable with the estimate (particularly the part about it could be much higher) and decided to just pick up my vehicle, after a charge of $52 for the estimate.  

They are great people. I go to them all the time, they offer rewards. I just got a $25 gift from them, every time you spend like $100 or a certain amount of money they reward you with a gift certificate. I have never had any issues, before they even do any maintenance on your car they let you know exactly what you want to do just to make sure it is cool. They never pressure me into thinking I have to do something that day. They just give me options so it is very easy to deal with. I have been using them for about six months. Sometimes they get a little expensive but the most part is cool.

Been going here at least 15 years. Used to be the only shop I could trust but something has changed here recently. I put very low milage on my cars; 15K in 5 years. However, I keep the oil changes on the 3-4 schedule. My prior car started having mechanical issues and the shop would prioritize repairs so I could keep it in budget. My newer auto has not needed any mechanical so I've only used Midtown for oil changes and new tires. A few years back needed new tires. Have very expensive tires on this car. When they were replaced I wanted something that would get more mileage than 15K miles; they sold me tires with a 50K warranty. Last year they started wearing oddly. Car was aligned, pressure was correct, they were balanced. Rep said that they had dry rot. Took car in for an oil change and was called saying the tires had to be replaced even though they still had plenty of tread of them. Said that and quot;dry rotand quot; had set in. I mentioned my warranty and was told the company would only deduct a minimal amount. I asked about the cause of the dry rot and was told it was the weather and since I didn't keep the car indoors the dry rot would occur. Sure sounds like a bunch of bull to me. Next day went back to talk with the manager, Seth. He looked at the old tires and said there seemed to be a defect in the tires. He contacted Michelin and got me a 70% reduction in the new tires. I was a happy camper and sure wouldn't be writing this review if things hadn't gotten worse. Keep in mind, Midtown is the only people who have been under the hood of this car since I've owned it except for emissions inspection. A few days after the tires being installed and an oil change my windshield wiper fluid seemed to be empty. I opened the hood and a very large section of the engine cover was not there. I'm not really sure what these things do; perhaps decorative, sound proofing etc. It's definitely not mechanical but it was not there and made the engine compartment look weird. I called Seth asking if the item had been left behind. He had the guys look around the shop and said it wasn't there. He did offer to replace it. He said it would take a little time to find one. It was going to be replaced with a used one which was ok with me. I informed that I had moved out of state and if he could locate one in my general area I would arrange for pickup and install. Well, guess when Seth heard I had moved out of State there was no need to get my car pieces back to me nor follow-up. Given Midtown Tire seems to use and quot;dry rotand quot; as their excuse to sell new tires, holds back on warranty claims unless really confronted, and takes parts from cars; I really suggest giving the competition a try. Seems Midtown Tire has become just another business that is resting on their well earned positive reputation and figures they can make some money for awhile before things go downhill. This sure isn't the business it was even a year ago.

Very professional, no nonsense, honest service. They could've up-sold me and gotten me to spend more but they didn't. They got the job done at a very reasonable price.

I had a good experience. They were very friendly and the customer service was attentive. They weren't distracted doing five different things at one time; I felt like they were paying attention to me. They were very speedy and they offered a discount to keep my business.

They have been very helpful over the years. I feel like they do not rip you off. They work with you on payments. They can take care of anything that has to do with cars. It is a one-stop shop.

I was happy with the service I received. Unfortunately 4 weeks later I ran over a nail and had a slow leak in one of my new tires. I brought it back to midtown tire and they patched it for free. I waited on a Monday morning for about 2 hour for the work to be done. It would have been done sooner, but a very pushy man came in about 30 mins after me. They repaired his car first, even though we both had the same problem and neither had an appointment. He left about 30 mins before me. As a woman, I felt they stereotyped me as not needing to get to work, but in fact I am a doctor. I felt very annoyed about this and that they took the pushy man first, but overall will go back to midtown tire.

We discovered a flat tire one morning around 8:30. AAA put air in it so we could drive to get it fixed, but we had to go somewhere close! Midtown Tire was very close, and said we could bring the car in right away. They provide a shuttle service, but we did not have to use it. Midtown Tire plugged the leak, didn't try to sell us a new tire, and the whole cost was only $26! Though it was ready within a couple of hours, we picked the car up after work.

Jesus freakin' Christ, clear the decks because you are going to be here for a while. I had a 10 AM *appointment* for an oil change, repair a tire, and rotate the tires. 12:30 PM, with a 1 PM meeting impending, and I am STILL waiting for them to finish. The tire can't be repaired. Ok, that happens, but it has warranty left on it. The is the place I BOUGHT the tire from, and they have a record of selling it to me, but that record has no invoice number. No number, no prorating. Then, to top it all off, instead of returning the spare tire to the spare tire rack, they just throw it in the back of the truck for me to deal with. Just say no people.

They are very quick. They work on Saturdays. They get everything fixed. They are not going to give you an incorrect estimate on things you need or don't need. I would recommend them and use them again.

As always they were friendly, open to questions, kept me informed, provided ride to work and they did follow up the next day. Work was performed according to time and cost estimate.

It is a full service garage company and I take my car there every time. They take good care of the car. They always check everything when I come in. They never sell me anything I don t really need. They have worked really efficiently.
