INTERIOR REVIVALS

We have several rooms in our home that have never looked completely "finished" to me; decorating is not my favorite thing. On a friend's recommendation, I hired Melanie to come to my home, walk through the house with me, and give me suggestions that I could use to arrange furniture, reposition art work, re-upholster furniture, etc. Melanie's mode of work is to use what you already have, but to suggest different, perhaps better, ways to arrange items, or items to purchase to complement what one already has. During her "decorating consultation" of two hours, she walked through our home with me, made suggestions on moving artwork from one area to another, explained use of color, texture and accent color and made suggestions for achieving a more cohesive look throughout the home. When she made a suggestion that I didn't like, and those were very infrequent, she was willing to suggest alternative approaches. She was also willing to specifically suggest tradespeople for needed services , floor refinishing, etc., as well as specific stores to search for items that she suggested. Melanie also offers "staging" of homes prior to putting them on the market, offers color consultations and room accessorizing. I was impressed with her suggestions and ended up with a guide and suggested actions to move me toward what I would like to achieve in my home's decor and appearance. When we didn't quite use the full time allocated for my consult, she offered to assist me with future shopping as a "comp".
