Home Electronics Design and Integration

After talking with many different theater system companies, we were frustrated that they all wanted to completely trash the old system and install everything new. Then, we found Home Electronics. They gave us a bid to upgrade the system using most of the existing components. They weren't the cheapest, but, the markup on the hardware was within reason. It wasn't a particularly easy job, as we have both satellite and cable. This meant any location having both services required a new run of coax through finished walls and ceilings plus plenty of hitches between the satellite and cable companies. James & Seth did a great job. Everything was completed as discussed and works perfectly. About eighteen months later, we needed to upgrade and move the intercom system due to a kitchen remodel. Again, we called Home Electronics. They gave us a reasonable price and coordinated with the general contractor. Seth changed the main control panel and every speaker inside and out. After almost two years, my front doorbell finally worked consistently.... yeah!!! I'm not certain why the other reviewer had such a problem. They can be difficult to schedule some times because they're working on other jobs; that's why I gave them a "B" as opposed to an "A" for responsiveness. However, it's a small company and they've always called back within a reasonable time frame. Also, they have come out more than once to fix a problem that was 'operator related', as opposed to a real problem with the system; they never charged us for it. I've used them twice and will use them again.

The initial visit went well; however, within a couple of weeks, the back of the new remote would not stay on. As a result, the battery fell out of the remote and all the programming was lost. This rendered the remote unusable. I called James, the owner of Home Electronics no less than 5 times to get him to help with this problem. He never returned my call. When I got no response for James, I also called the manufacturer of the remote and was told that it was registered to James and I could not access the account. This, of course, means that I have spent $580 for nothing. A lesson I have learned is to charge all of this kind of work on a credit card so that you can dispute the charge. I plan to sue James and his company in small claims court.
