Auto Body Work
Yes, I recommend this pro
This is one of those "You saved me thank you thank you thank you!" type situations. My brother went out of town and left his car with us, as we were also going out of town and I wanted it in our driveway at night. It is an old(er) car, but the only one he has, and it runs great. It has older tinting on the windows, making it hard to see while backing up. So my husband opened the door while he was backing it into our driveway (No I didn't tell him to back it up. He was just being "helpful").
However, he forgot we had a basketball goal. A big steel post concreted into the ground. The door caught the post, the car moved, the door didn't. And then the door was hanging down on the latch end about 6 inches, and was six inches from being willing to close.
I asked Google what to do, and got some inputs, which we tried. The door came closer to closing, but when it was opened, it met the front fender. Great. Now it was worse. AND it was starting to rain, badly enough that there were floods.
I looked for body shops, and found one with good reviews. My husband felt like he could drive it there, and made an appointment, but since he had not disconnected the battery, and the door was open, the battery was drained, and he missed the appointment. Probably a good thing, because when he called them back, and described the problem, they said it would be THOUSANDS to fix. New door, new hinges, repair to the pillar, paint. For a car that is worth maybe $500.
Yesterday, we called Bob Wunch at High Tech Transmissions. He has rebuilt two transmissions for us, and is incredibly competent and honest. He recommended John Stovall at  Gwinnett Body and Paint.
Today, John called US. Bob had called him and told him the problem.
My husband drove it up there, and in maybe 15 minutes, John and his employee had realigned the door and it now closes fine.
The cost? $0.
A company that is competent and responsive and honest? PRICELESS.
I am sure John will be seeing my cars again. What a find!
