We stopped by Excel where Michelle listened to our needs and gave us help in selecting good quality products and gave input on design choices. After selecting a laminate floor and a carpet rated for stair usage, she promptly scheduled a measurement and provided a reasonable quote. She offered us an installation date within a week, although we requested more time to clean out the office for the install. A 4 man crew headed by Orlando showed up as scheduled to install the laminate floor. I was impressed with their competence and how efficiently they worked together. They used their expertise to work through a couple of minor problems. They were also able to lay the carpeting which was originally scheduled for the following day. Their work appears excellent and their clean-up was good. They were all professional and polite. I would not hesitate to use Excel in the future.
To begin, I started looking for flooring companies on Angie?s list and made a few calls. One of which was to Excel Carpet & Floors.
Starting with my phone call, Josh was exceptional from beginning to end. Josh was knowledgeable and was in no rush to get off the phone. He took the time to talk about the fundamentals of carpet as a whole to ensure I was able to make an informed decision, which I valued. The information Josh provided allowed me to have intelligent conversations with other carpet companies in advance of my choosing Excel to install my carpet.
Josh came to my home with samples of carpet and carpet pads so we could compare them to the samples we had from Home Depot and Lowes. Josh provided an all in price (carpet, carpet pad, moving of the furniture, removing the previous carpet and pad, installation and disposal of old carpet) which I found refreshing. There was no interest in nickel-and-diming me, and from what I can tell, there are no hidden charges anywhere. He was transparent and up front with his pricing. He gave me a fair price (roughly $6,000) for nearly 1900 sq ft installed. After deciding to go with Excel, Josh scheduled the install for the next day
The next morning (I know that is fast, and I?m not sure if that is the norm), there was a 3 man crew at my front door with the rolls of carpet and pad. The crew leader asked me to come out to the van to ensure it was the correct carpet and pad before they started anything. After I confirmed it was in fact the correct carpet, he asked me to walk him through the house and show him all the carpet I wanted replaced. After I showed him the rooms, he and the two other men on his crew went to work. Within 30 minutes, there was no carpet or pad left in my home, and the men began prepping the sub-floor for the new pad. They worked extremely hard from the time they got here until the time they left. Within 12 hours they had completed the installation (less than 30 hours from quote to completion of my 1,900 sq ft install is exceptional to say the least). There was one spot I questioned (doorway from a room into the closet where it seemed slightly loose), and they had it fixed within 5 minutes. I cannot say enough about the installation crew and their great work ethic. Before they left they swept the wood floors and bathrooms to gather stray fibers that blew around during their install, and vacuumed all the caret they installed so I was left with a clean house.
The carpet is everything we wanted and more. I have no complaints about quality, professionalism or execution of Excel Carpet & Flooring, Josh and their installation crew. I will use them again and I would refer anyone to them in a heartbeat. After inspecting their work, the carpet seams are glued very well, the edges are tight, the stairs look great, and there are no ripples from what I can see.
Only time will tell if this carpet and installation will hold up well, and at this time, I have no reason to think it will not. If you do not call Excel, you are doing you and your home a disservice.
