Appliance Tech is a Dacor repair firm- that's all they do. I called them at 11:00 am on Jan. 3, and they were there by 4:30 pm the same day. Jerry and Tim examined the oven and opened it up; it was apparent that they knew exactly what they were doing. The power surge knocked out two electronic boards, which had to be replaced. They had these exact parts on their truck, installed them and the oven is back to working condition. The bill was a bit high, but mainly due to the cost of the electronic boards. Their labor and service call fees were entirely reasonable.
An important point: Appliance Tech does not sell appliances, they only service them. Thus, they are more interested in repairing than pushing the customer to buy a new unit.
Before I called Appliance Tech, I had a serviceman from Sewell Appliance come to look at the unit. He charged $118 for the service call, and did nothing to fix the unit. He called back three days later and said that the problem was the "membrane", and that Dacor no longer made it. He then suggested that we replace the entire oven (which would have cost about $6,000). Interesting that he would recommend this, as Sewell also sells appliances and probably makes more money on new units than repairing old ones.
The only downside to Appliance Tech is that they only do Dacor appliances. If they did other brands, I would call them any time I had a problem.
