I commissioned Larry for a job that involved the stripping and repainting of a dozen or so steel support columns. The surface prep was very mediocre. At the very beginning, one of his guys started painting without sanding the column first. I pointed this out and Larry corrected the issue by having each column sanded (in addition to scrapping loose paint). Problem is, several nooks this orbital sander couldn't reach were left alone. This became apparent when the new paint was flaking in neglected spots. Larry's crew was completely inconsistent with painting square bases around each column. I let Larry know I wasn't happy with freehanded bases and preferred to have them taped off into simple squares. They managed to screw this up as well by taping off crooked lines. They "finished" and Larry offered to follow up with me on Monday. Between that time, I took a paint scrapper and was able to remove sections of new, dried paint with virtually no effort. Also, I found paint on a brand new $1200 acrylic coral tank, conveyor line, pressure regulator, and dripped in various places around the warehouse. When Larry came back I pointed out the sections that were easily removed and the crooked square bases. He looked at one example and told me with a straight face that it wasn't crooked. So, to make my point much easier to comprehend, I showed him one where the base looked like it was painted by a 5 year old....blind-folded. He told me again, with a straight face, that he didn't see the problem. My jaw dropped. This is where I started to lose it. He sensed my reaction and responded with, and I quote, "you act like we are painting the inside of your house!" No Larry, this isn't the inside of my house, but thanks for coming up with that excuse to justify your half-a** work. They left shortly thereafter without making right on their work. Don't hire these clowns unless you plan on doing the surface prep and taping yourself.

*edit* I agree, the floor bases were not in the contract but that didn't stop the workers from painting some anyway. I simply asked that they paint them all since some had already been done. Some got painted in wet spots without any effort to dry the area first.

"This company is a warehouse that conduct work with salt water running on the floor 12 to 20 hours a day. I informed [member name removed] that I could not paint the floor because oil paint will not dry with water running on the floor. I also informed him that painting the floor was not in the contract. Even though the floor was not in the contract. My workers tried to satisfy him by painting the floor in areas not as wet. He wanted all the lines to measured to a perfect square with salt water running on the floor. As for the columns, we re-sanded all of the columns and made sure there were no peelings. I informed [member name removed] that if he wanted detail squares on a warehouse floor that was not on contract, I would be happy to do it for a fee because the floor was not in our contract agreement. He refused to contract adjustment."

Larry Parker owner of the business gave me a verbal agreement that he would come back out to my house if I saw any issues that needed to be corrected. He chose not come back and fix the few areas that his messy workers left behind. I will not use him again and suggest that you beware. Your word is your bond and shows integrity. Larry Parker and Best Rate Painting has none.

"This customer requested work that was not on contract. Wanted me to do work for free. Work she requested would cost me $300.00 additional. When I refused, she threaten to destroy my business. The messy spots were created by her previous painter which I brought to attention before job started."

They did a good job. They promised to finish in 2 days and they did. Very good people to work with. They followed up on the 3rd day to make sure everything was in good shape.

This company knows what they are doing. They are doing an excellent job. They are clean, professional, on time, tidy and do the painting carefully. I keep adding on more rooms to do as I see the quality of the work that they do. I think his prices are fair.
