After 4 knee operations on my left knee, it was time to have it replaced because it was very painful and becoming non-functional.

I extensively researched my options because I was an "extreme" case, and determined that Dr. Gillogly and Atlanta Sports Medicine was the best option.

My conclusion was and has been confirmed from the time I entered surgery until now. Because of my condition, I knew it would not be an easy process and recovery, but Dr. Gillogly's work on my knee and the follow-up at his rehabilitation (physical therapy) clinic has been nothing but phenomenal.

I couldn't be happier with the results and am thankful to him and his entire staff.

I ended up having two surgeries done by Dr. Langer, needless to say after 6 months of rehab from both surgeries I wasn't any better than when I started and ended up having to go somewhere else to fix the problems that came from the surgeries.  His bedside manner is very cold as well, I would not recommend.

I started seeing Dr. James around October 2010 for a back injury that was diagnosed as a herniated disc and bone spur after I had seen another orthopedist that didn't help at all.  I appreciated the fact that he started with conventional treatments such as anti-inflammatory and pain medication and physical therapy, then steroid epidurals, before finally moving to surgery following a CT myelogram scan.  On January 19, 2011, I had an L5-S1 spinal fusion to relieve the excruciating pain I had been experiencing.

I was extremely nervous; I had never had ANY surgery before and this was a pretty major one.  The outcomes of this particular surgery are generally good, but when they're bad, they're REALLY bad.  I was getting to the point that I could barely get around though, and after researching his record, I felt that I could trust him to hopefully at least not make things worse.

After Dr. James performed the surgery, my recovery was extremely quick and my outcome was particularly good.  Within a couple of days of surgery, I was up and walking around again.  Within six weeks, I was back at work and fully mobile.  It is now over a year later, and I can only describe myself as better than fully recovered.  I have had zero lower back pain since the procedure, not even the periodic "throwing out" of my back that has been bothering me for 20 years.

The procedure was very expensive--over $100,000.  Dr. James's office worked with the insurance company and the hospital to ensure that the financial side of everything was taken care of as much as possible.  My out-of-pocket costs when all was said and done were probably around $2,500, which I consider extremely worthwhile considering that I am pain-free today.

I know that no medical outcome can be guaranteed, but second only to your own discipline in following your doctor's recommendations, your doctor's experience, skill, and knowledge are the largest determining factors in maximizing a good result.  I checked Dr. Jame's record (spotless) and his training (very impressive) before trusting him with my continued health.  I am extremely happy today that I did.  While I hope that I never have to use his services again, if I have neck or back trouble again, I won't hesitate to do so.

They then recommended me a therapist to build my leg muscles back up. They were really caring people and they did a really good job.

I had surgery and he did an excellent job.  He's willing to listen to what I was going through and after going to several other doctors, this was really nice.  He's a really good surgeon.

Plantar fasciitis is an inflamation of the fascia which covers the heel. It is caused by the fascia being "pulled" by (in my case) too tight calf muscles. You know you have this when you get up in the moring and experience severe pain in your heel as you take your first steps. I was prescribed a two week therapy of medications (anti-inflamatories), a cushioning device to wear (kind of an air brace to wear in my shoe) and physical therapy at their in house facility. The physical therapists are really great, they even diagnosed and helped to correct a condition in my hips I wasn't aware of!!! The regime consisted of visits (2 times a week, dropping to once a week in about 3 weeks) stretching exericises, strenthening exercises, dry needling (kind of like an acupuncture needle that is used to excite/loosen trigger points in muscles that are too tight). It took about two to three weeks to tell a difference and about 3 months to get to being pain free. They gave me the tools and knowledge to help repair/heal my self and provided their medical expertise in assessing and encouraging my progress. I highly recommend them, Dr. Langer can be a bit brusque but he knows his stuff and the physical therapy dept is outstanding!
