Removing old wallpaper revealed mold on the dinning room and adjoining kitchen wall. Contacted Abatement Contractors (ACU) and left a message to contact me. Within 20 minutes got a call from Terri Cowart, owner of ACU, and scheduled an appointment for the very next day. Terri inspected the wall and there was no question the mold had to be removed. A previous test by another entity determined the mold was of a particularly toxic variety, but not active. I also had an air quality test done by a third party and it showed the air inside the home was okay. The inactivity of the mold and it being covered by wallpaper would likely explain why there was no moldy smell that would have put me on notice of a problem. In addition, I had begun to remove old kitchen tiles and dinning room flooring and Terri suggested an asbestos test on the flooring. Because the house was built in 1959, it was likely that asbestos was present. Terri took a tile sample and had it tested and confirmed the presence of asbestos. The test was $50.00 and paid at time of her inspection. Terri prepared a proposal to remediate the mold and remove the asbestos. After responding to my questions and providing clarification on a few points, I signed the proposal and the work was scheduled for the following week. The crew of four arrived on time and promptly set to work covering the work area in plastic and air cleaning equipment and began removing the moldy sheetrock and floor tiles. Tia, the crew chief, saw to it that all the work was done in accordance with the proposal and answered all my questions and concerns. It took a good 8 hours to set up, commence the remediation, and remove and secure the sheetrock and flooring. The inside wall and studs were then painted with a mold resistant coating. However, the kitchen tiles could not be removed without taking out the subflooring and expose the floor joists and crawlspace below the kitchen. I had not prepared for this, but Terri allowed me time to find someone to put in a subfloor after removal of the old flooring. So the following week, Tia and two crew members again set up and began removing the kitchen floor which took about three hours.

After my daughter was born, I tested the soil with samples I took myself through the UGA extension office. When the levels came back somewhat elevated, I hired Terri's company to more thoroughly test the soil to determine if I needed any significant remediation done. Terri was easy to reach and schedule, and she came out quickly and delivered the report as promised. Fortunately no further work was required, but her thoroughness put my wife and I at ease. She charged 150 for the report, and 50 per test, which based on my research was reasonable.

They were quite responsive to our initial inquiry and promptly gave us an estimate for the work. They accommodated our schedules and did the work promptly and efficiently. For mold removal, they even did work in a room that was not included in the overall price. Everyone we interacted with was friendly (e.g. Terri, Jacklyn) and easy to work with. Overall, an excellent experience.

ACU did a really terrific job, top to bottom! I selected ACU based on their stellar recommendations here and on other sites. It was not the cheapest estimate I got, but it felt like a solid choice based on reviews and my interactions with Terri during the quote process. Also, do note that Terri is licensed by the GA EPD to do asbestos abatement and renovations that may involve the presence of lead paint. Do not discount the importance of this; it can spare you anxiety and expense if unexpected things happen during the renovations. Terri took the time to explain everything to me, and talked to me like an adult. Other contractors I met with glossed over details and oversimplified answers to my questions, which I don't appreciate. I had done my homework, so I had a pretty good idea of the requirements and best practices for remediating asbestos, so I appreciated that Terri spoke with me candidly about the work plan, risks involved, and potential issues. Throughout the work, Terri was accessible to answer any questions I had, and when I raised concerns, she immediately called her crew to touch base, and made a point to send a manager to investigate firsthand. As far as I could tell, her crew followed the requisite practices for remediation. ACU communicated effectively and did the work well. As an anxious person, it was a great relief to have faith in the competence of the firm, and to have responsive project managers willing to answer questions. I couldn't have been more pleased with the experience.

Terri was phenomenal. I no longer live in GA and needed services on a rental property. I was anxious not being there, but she kept me in the loop every step of the way and always responded promptly when I reached out. I felt 100% secure with her on the job.

The work was completed on schedule as promised. The employees were very professional and took time to answer questions, etc. I would use this company again.

Made an appointment for an estimate. Jacklyn showed up 10 minutes early and we went over what needed to be done. She emailed me a very detailed to remove mold, clean all surfaces, (shock, apply anti-fungicide and add insulation ACU would also take everything out of the garage. Anything that was to go back in was cleaned. They discarded all the rest. They even made a 2nd trip to take some additional junk I had in my other garage Supervisor and worker spent 2 days cleaning up my mess. They were very thorough and kept me informed of their activities. Owner Terri also stopped by to check on the work. Sorry photos are upside down and don't know how to turn them. Pictures show the difference. My daughter is looking forward to being able to park her car in the garage and not breathe in the mold and chemicals.

Terri is FANTASTIC. A true professional who knows her craft and is interested in doing the right thing and a job well done. In fact, I've done a lot of Angie's List transactions, and this is by far the best due to Terri's knowledge and customer service. I would highly recommend her!

I am very happy with the work done by Terri and her team. From the beginning of this process to the end we received timely, professional and quality service. We had two sections in our ceiling that needed remediation, one was a 36 sq.ft. section the second was roughly 24 sq.ft. We got a few quotes on the work to be done and elected to go with Abatement Contractors because of our initial experience with Terri and competitive price. When the time came for the work to be done the team arrived on time and was very professional. The work speaks for itself, I would definitely hire them again.

Terri is a very large part of how we managed to save the deal and ended up in the house we really wanted. I found her at a very precarious point in our negotiations with the seller. It was imperative that she work under a very tight deadline as dictated by our due diligence period. I spoke with her in the afternoon, she met me at the house the very next morning, promised to deliver a detailed work description and a quote later that night which she delivered. We scheduled the work, she showed up with her crew on time and completed the work on time. The team she has put together is highly competent and easy to work with. Each person I met was just as professional as the next. They were there to answer all of my questions and to respond to all of my concerns. Terri exudes honesty and competence. She will treat your home like it is her own.

I called Terri (owner) back in late November 2015 to schedule an estimate.  She was my first call based on her company's stellar reviews on Angie's List.  She was very thorough in her initial inspection and took probably 25 pictures to make sure she gave me the most accurate estimate.  She sent me the initial estimate during the same day.  I scheduled 3 other companies to come out and provide estimates over the holidays and first week of 2016.  Terri's estimate came in in the middle of the pack.  However, the two lower estimates were not as professional, not as thorough as ABU's initial inspection, and had trouble answering simple questions in a timely manner (e.g. one company took two weeks to answer 1 simple question).  It just didn't feel right to even consider the other contractors - I just felt that Terri was honest and would do the best job of all 4 candidates.  I made the decision to throw out the other estimates in early February.  As far as the work, this was a tough job and her company did not leave anything behind nor did they cut corners.  If there was even 1 inch of asbestos tape visible behind a wall or within a space that is barely visible, they found it and removed it.  I was very pleased with Terri and her company.  I can honestly say without question that they performed beyond my expectations.  I will use again if needed.

Asbestos Contractors Unlimited are awesome! I spoke with Terri on the phone late afternoon to set up an appointment. She was out the next morning to assess the property. I received her proposal the following afternoon. We set a date the following week to do the work. 
The crew worked very clean and efficiently. Terri was there in the morning to get them started and back later that evening to ensure everything was completed properly.

We uncovered black mold on one wall during a kitchen remodel; we were in the middle of demolition and our remodelers weren't allowed to touch it.  I called a few remodelers from AngiesList and came upon Terri Cowart, owner of Abatement Contractors Unlimited.  She was extremely professional and knowledgeable on the phone regarding mold remediation.  She came out immediately to evaluate the situation and gave us a fair price for remediation.  Terri met her technician on a Saturday prior to the start of work to review their process.  The technician was also very professional and hard working.  He removed all moldy wall board, sprayed the affected area first to kill the mold and then came back later the same day to paint on a thick coat of preventative chemicals.  When they were finished the area was impeccably clean.  Ms. Cowart also provided us with documentation so our contractors were comfortable proceeding with their work.  We would absolutely use their services again!

Exceptional service, and quality from a knowledgeable team of professionals. I could not be more satisfied. After a horrible experience with a pre-purchase inspection, where the inspector refused to inspect the home because of the extent of mold, I almost walked away. Out of curiosity I contacted several most remediation companies, and like a shining light ACU stood out amongst them. Terri, the owner, was straight-forward, honest, and above all confident that her team could do the job well without busting my budget. I am pleased to say that ACU exceeded my expectations. Every member of their team is knowledgeable, professional and efficient. Emory, the team leader is amazing, he explained every step of the process, pointed out areas in the framing that were affected by the mold/water damage, ensured our property was secure every evening before leaving, and made me aware of unsavory characters in the area.
