Requiring no money down was a plus. Hall Roberts worked with me through the initial design process, estimates, and material selection. The crew who installed the dry creek bed and flagstone path listened to my design input, and I was pleased they welcomed me as part of their creative team. Steven, the team leader was very accommodating when I noticed some aspects that needed a more finished touch. Crew members came back several times to tweak and adjust until I was satisfied. They cleaned up after finishing including pressure washing my driveway and walkway. The projects look fabulous.

They came on time and did what they said they would. They did a little more than I expected and very professional. It was nice.

They are very neat workers, love trees and when done it was like they were never here We will use them again

The service was flawless from first contact through completion of the tree removal and clean up. A representative from the company met with me and assessed the trees on my property. He followed up with a thorough written estimate. After I agreed to have them perform the work, I was updated with the timing for the completion of the work. Promptly on the scheduled day, the crew arrived and began the work. They were efficient and courteous. The clean up was thorough. The billing and payment was handled conveniently through email. I am quite pleased with the service I received.

Rare to find companies that seem to really care about what they do. The crew that came out to remove a few trees and trim up some others arrived early...were incredibly efficient, courteous, and professional. I live on a very wooded lot and had to have tree services before, and these guys were the best by far. You feel comfortable that they are responsible and know what they are doing. They also spend time cleaning up afterwords and leave the place like they found it. Would recommend to anyone who wants a job done right!!!

Excellent doesn't even come close to describing the job this company did. They removed a tree from a very difficult location and except for the missing tree you cannot tell NUF was ever there. My hats off to Shawn Doonan for excellent communication and attention to detail. Also a shout out to Chris and his wonderful crew. New Urban Forestry is now THE standard in Athens, GA, and for good reason. Kevin and his team of climbers are the only tree service in the Athens area who combine the use of innovative climbing techniques; the latest technology in tree cutting equipment; top tier safety including full hazard insurance; expert climbers who are also arborists; and the sustainable use of wood waste. In addition, Kevin and his entire crew are good and trustworthy people.
We knew about our dangerous trees for a while after meeting with the city arborist, but we realized that the job would be expensive. After hearing universal praise about New Urban, we knew that ideally we wanted them to do our work; however, we also heard almost universally that they were expensive. We had a couple of other opinions on cost of removal, and for the difficult tree in the backyard precariously close to the house, the guesses we had come up with (around $3,000) were low. One company quoted us $4,200 to remove just the tree in the back, and another quote over $5,000! New Urban quoted and charged about $3,000 for the tree in the back. Not only do they have the best reputation, they also gave us the lowest quote! Their quote and charge for the tree in the front was also very competitive.
New Urban's reputation as being expensive is really a myth. They are not expensive. As we found out, their prices are spot on for the level of quality service they provide. They arrived on the day of removal on time. They coordinated with the power company to cut our power, and cut it back on after they were finished in that area. They consulted with us to make a plan that would best avoid damaging our other trees, plants and property. They worked quickly and safely. Their expertise in climbing, cutting, grounding and cleaning up was astounding to watch. They were coordinated, they communicated with each other, they were a team.
New Urban finished cutting the two trees in one day, which was amazing considering the size of the trees and their level of difficulty, especially the very large red oak in the backyard. The red oak was 6' from the house, and roughly 1' from the garage and front fence. It was a tight spot, and the tree was a huge danger to our property and our lives, potentially. On the second day, all they had left was clean up, which was done with minimal footprint.
New Urban does the little things right, too. I mentioned that they coordinated with Georgia Power to cut off and cut back on the power. It was nice to not have to worry about that. They worked in a way that left minimal trace of their being in our yard, even cutting the tree stumps down very low. We're keeping the stumps because they look so good, not grinding them down. They left a mound of beautiful mulch, which we used generously all over the yard, even saving some. They had to take down a section of fence in the backyard, and they even replaced the fencing themselves. I'm not even sure they were supposed to do that, but they did it anyway. Kevin himself helped me transplant a little bush that was going to be in the way of the work during the job planning. The guys were always friendly, professional, and considerate of us.
Its hard to not go on and on about New Urban. They were the most impressive of any service we've used in Athens, and that includes plumbers, electricians, contractors, etc. I cannot stress enough that if you're using any other tree service because of cost or another reason, you are using an inferior company. Use New Urban if at all possible. If anything, support their love of tree cutting, their best practices in safety, and their sustainable use of wood waste.

New Urban Forestry responded my call very quickly.  We arranged the date to estimate the price.  The price to remove the tree seemed great.  The price for pruning the hollies and oak was a little bit expensive, but acceptable.  The representative sent me the quote in a timely matter.  I decided to use this company because other guys (several ones on the A-list of Angie's list?!) failed to respond to my call, and requests via websites. 
4 guys came on time and started to work right away.  I had to leave soon after.  When I came back, these guys did not chop the tree branches into firewood as quoted, but chipped into mulch!.  I was a little bit furious.  The rep told me that he can bring some to compensate me, but he only brought a small fraction that my tree could be.
Besides this problem, pruning the hollies and oak tree went OK.  I am happy with the hollies. I will think twice if next year to bring them back for prune my boxwood and other trees due to the positive and negative outcomes.

These guys ALWAYS do a great job! We have been using them for several years and they are the best. They seem to be able and willing to do any size job and always do it with professionalism and safety in mind.

NEW URBAN FORESTRY CAME BEFORE AND GAVE AN ESTIMATE WHICH BEGAN THE ACTUAL PRICE WITHOUT ADDITIONS.
THE WORK WAS DONE EFFICIENTLY, AND AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE. THE CLEAN UP, MULCHING, AND PLACEMENT OF MULCH WAS VERY SATISFACTORY. THE WORKING CREW WAS PLEASANT, COMMUNICATIVE, AND PROFESSIONALLY CAPABLE. I WILL USE THEM EXCLUSIVELY FOR FUTURE TREE CUTTING AND MAINTENANCE WORK IN ON MY PROPERTY.

We sent them an email. They were very responsive. They went to diagnose ours trees (we have a lot). Jhon is real passionate by trees and he made very usefull observations. He suggest some work but did not over charge us. We agreed to prune a tree above our house and to remove a big, wild hedge and to treat the remaining stumps.
They went in time and did a very professional job. They let the deck cleaner than it was!
We definitely will ask them next year to take care of our trees!

The company was doing work next door and I asked if the would remove some limbs. They came over cut the limbs and cleaned everything up. They also gave me a price for future work.

New Urban was terrific! They took time to explain everything thoroughly including how to maintain the trees we have (several species). They were on time, did the work that we had scheduled, and mulched the tree we had taken down for no charge. We are scheduling more work to be done this summer and definitely recommend them for any kind of tree care.

New Urban Forestry did a great job. The mulch has been effective at weed control and very attractive. Their removal of the old shrubs, etc., was amazingly quick, and they had great suggestions as to what to put in instead. This spring, our front yard looks 100% better due to their work! We haven't had to use the irrigation systems too much yet, but they work quite well too. I especially like John's knowledge of flora, and his desire to help me put in productive, fruiting trees and shrubs that are also attractive enough to use in the front yard. Can't wait for my first crop to come in this summer!

They showed on time and did the work in a very timely and professional manner. Did exactly what I asked them do. Very straight shooters. I would use them again, and also highly recommend.

They're the best. They take the time to explain what might have caused the tree to die. I wanted to keep about a 12' trunk standing for the birds. Also, I wanted to have the remainder of the trunk cut into two foot sections to use as garden stools, and they haulded away the remaining tree matter. It is fascinating to watch them prepare for cutting, safety is at the top of their list.

I contacted the company initially because I was looking for a tree service company that was fully insured.
I found them on the internet and contacted them by email. I received a call back very quickly (I believe it was in just a few minutes if I recall correctly.) A gentleman named Kevin spoke with me and we set up an appointment time. Kevin arrived at the exact time we set and looked at the job. He told us that he would have proof of insurance emailed to us and gave us estimate and a general time frame on when the job would be done. He told us that he would contact us at the first of the week when they would come out to make sure that it was a good time for us. Kevin did what he said in regard to the insurance proof, time frame and contacting us on the week of the job. The crew arrived on the morning of the job and completed everything quickly and professionally. They did a very good job of cleaning up and left the wood chips for us to use as per our agreement.
Later, the company delivered 2 more truckloads of wood chips for our landscaping project.

We were very happy with the work and plan on hiring the company again.

New Urban Forestry (NUF) is exactly the kind of business you want to employ. I spoke with Kevin over the phone to arrange a quote to trim several trees in my yard and take several more trees down. He provided me with a quote and the price was the price-no haggling, no hidden costs. As both my wife and I work fulltime, NUF were open to working with me on when to perform the work. We agreed upon a date and they provided the service as promised. No headaches, no hassles, no need for further explanation. That is everything you can ask for from someone working on your house. They arrive on time, provide accurate quotes, do what they promise and clean up when their done. They are insured for worker's comp so if someone in inured on the job you don't have to worry. I would highly recommend New Urban Forestry and would definitely hire then again.
