Firewood

The delivery went fine. The arrived in a 1/2 ton pick up loaded full of cut wood. They requested cash rather than a check. The folks seemed nice enough. I specifically requested seasoned firewood. however, what I received was not fully seasoned. it would burn a bit, then stop. Each log had to be split into pieces that were no wider than 2" x 2" for the wood to burn. This may have been seasoned for a few months, but it certainly was not seasoned for a year. When burned moisture oozed from the end grain (cut end) of the split pieces. I was sorely disappointed in the quality of the product. Maybe the product is better at the very beginning of the season, I don't know. I later ordered wood from a different vendor and found the same quality of wood. It may be that vendors in Athens sell inadequately seasoned wood to everyone - i.e. this may be the norm.
