Every homeowners nightmare. The AC unit never worked properly even though we used it maybe a total of 20 days over 5 years.
We would get it repaired and it would be non functional the next time we turned it on. They came out at least 5 times and had a new type of charge each time. After the last repair that didn't work I finally called and complained and the manager was remarkable arrogant and truculent. He had no interest in helping me get this unit working. He actually told me the reason the unit wasn't working was because we didn't use it enough! I did hire another vendor to repair the AC and it works fine. They said the unit had an obvious freon leak. It seems clear to me that D&D let this leak go unfixed so they could keep charging us scam repair fees.
When I demanded my money back for the last repair that didn't work he told if I want my money back i had to drive to his office in the middle of no where to get a refund. I was actually worried about my safety with this ruffian manager and had no intention of going to his business. Without exception this was the worst vendor I have ever hired!

Response from D & D Heating & Air Conditioning Inc
"A full refund for our service call conducted on 07/01/2015, which was for the replacement of a bad capacitor on a 15-year old a/c unit, was offered. The husband contacted our office 08/03/2015 to question service provided since replacing the compressor of this unit in Aug. 2010. The owner felt we should still be responsible for this unit. It was explained that in 2010 the original manufacturer warranty was long expired. It was also explained that any compressor replacement, being out of the original warranty period, would carry no more than a 1-year manufacturer warranty and a 30-day labor warranty. We did, within the 1-year period of compressor replacement, conduct a leak search on this system. We injected dye into the system and waited 30 days before returning to do a leak search. We found no evidence of a refrigerant leak. Prior to July 1, 2015, we had one other service call to this residence which was replacing a stopped up filter in Aug. 2012. On 08/04/2015, we scheduled a follow-up service with the husband, at no additional charge, for 08/11/2015. Upon arrival our technician found the system frozen. We let the owner know the system would need time to thaw before a proper check could be performed and we would return later that day. Other than our our first calls, we do not schedule specific times because we cannot be certain of how much time any given call will need. The husband called our office after a few hours. When he learned our technician had been on other calls while waiting for his system to thaw, which is customary in our trade, he became impatient and told our office manager there would be no need in us completing his service. Moments later we received an email stating he wanted a full refund from July 1, 2015. We immediately responded with our office address, closing time, and that he should come directly to our office to expedite receiving his refund in full. Our office is exactly 5.5 miles from the his Athens address. We are located directly beside the Athens-Ben Epps airport and the Army Reserve center. Our offer was refused. We have had no correspondence with this customer since this time. We strive in all situations to provide the greatest amount of due diligence to our customers. We take no pleasure in such a negative review of our company. Our response would have come much sooner had we been aware of this review, which until recently we were not."

It took 3 days to complete as they were starting from scratch in a 100 year old house that had no heat or air. Scott & his crew were punctual & professional. They consulted me about placement of vents & returns before cutting any holes. Everything went well & is working great. We are thrilled to have heat & AC!

We find D&D service personnel to be very professional and well-trained. On the down side, they have no emergency service so if a system fails on a weekend, you are SOL. They also do not answer phone calls outside business hours and have no answering service. You leave a message--they get it when they open the office--they do try to respond then but you may be all weekend without heat or A/C...and it could be a three-day weekend!
