It went well. Before we agreed to have them do the work, I attempted to get estimates from several contractors. Two were on Angies list. NONE would return phone calls. I made the mistake of telling everyone my address so they could google map my home. I believe the scope of the work was beyond most roofers and they most likely did not want the job. A quote from a Big Box store did not include the turret and labor alone was more than I paid Athens Roofing for the entire job, including materials. It was a "one stop shop" for us since we needed some painting and light carpentry done at the same time. A large crew was here 3-4 days. Not a typical crew. No swearing... no radio's...very polite. Our home is over 140 years old and I was very picky about how work would be done. I would not hesitate to hire them again.
Our first and last meetings ended with a smile and handshakes...That's about all you can ask for.
And on a side note...I received a written 15 year warranty.

We met the representatives of Athens Roofing at the 2014 Spring Atlanta Home Show. My wife has wanted a " metal" roof for a long time and Athens Roofing represents Classic Metal Roofing Systems, which has a Residential Product Line of Aluminum Roofing Systems. She liked the Product they presented and we requested a Quote. They also informed us that this wasn't a "stocked item" and that each system was custom made by the factory, which was no problem for us. Further, that it would be a four to six week installation because each piece of aluminum roofing has to be "custom cut" for installation, which also wasn't a problem. Their Sales Manager, came to our house to inspect the roof and verify what we wanted done. We were very impressed with his analysis of what needed to be done. He even had a Eagle View Technologies Diagram and Photograph of our house's roof. He left use with several Styles of Roof shingles and colors for our selection and a 26-page CMRS "Homeowner's Guide To Roofing. On April 21, 2014, he returned to present the Quote, which we accepted. He explained that he would place the order with the factory and let us know when we might expect the installation to begin. The installation team came to the house and inspected the house and verified exactly what was to be done. Installation began in the last week of July and was completed the week after Labor Day. One factor that contributed to the long installation period was that our house's total roof area is 3,864
sq. ft, which includes three bay windows, five dormers, an eyebrow window, two door overhangs, all of which required special "cutting" for installation. Also there was a shed and two half-sheds included
In closing, I would like to add that all the personnel of Athens Roofing were courteous and friendly and that we are very satisfied with our new "lifetime" aluminum roof. My wife is having designed a 9 ft. x 19 ft. patio structure, which will also have the same roofing installed by Athens Roofing.

The work was performed on the promised schedule. Our neighbors were amazed at how quickly we had a new roof on our house - one day - included removal of the old roof and installation of the new one. Attention was paid to details of painting the pipes that come out of the top the house the same color as the roof - in other words, these pipes do not look like sore thumbs on our house. Clean-up at the end of the day received an appropriate amount of attention.

Chris with Athens Roofing scheduled a time to meet with me to review the project and gave me an estimate before he left. His company was easy to communicate and responsive to my calls and emails. They performed the service as expected and on time. And best of all, no leaks! I'd definitely ask them to work on my roof again when it's time for a full makeover.

It was asphalt that they covered this little lip with. We were asked if we would consider a metal accent there that would compliment. We went with a copper color and it looks very nice. They did everything very well. They were prompt, they were quick. They run into some issues where there wasn't just a single layer of shingles, but a double layer, and it took longer to strip, but they corrected the issue and were fine.

It was definitely time for a new roof... A few shingles were blown off in high wind gusts and there was a leak on the back porch section of roof due to shoddy work done by a previous roofer. My neighbor recently replaced his roof with Athens Roofing, suggested I use them, and though I received multiple estimates, theirs was the most reasonable. When I called Athens Roofing for an estimate, they were very friendly and flexible in setting up an appointment. Barth Jackson, who came out to inspect the roof was knowledgeable and straightforward about how it would be installed and the cost. He gave me plenty of information and options on colors/materials and didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need.
The clincher of a deal was the 15 year guarantee: "If the roof started leaking 14.5 years later, they would come out and fix it." Although their estimate was approximately two hundred dollars more than the rock-bottom-cheapest estimate I received, it was well worth the peace of mind that comes with a guarantee that other contractors just don't offer. Apparently, they are also insured, but as no one was injured during the roofing we did not have to put that to the test. Speaking of the installation crew and roofers, they were all very careful, hard-working and cleaned up everything afterwards.
They showed up early in the AM and finished around 2PM. The final result was a great looking new roof on a 1970's ranch style house. It looked great and I actually prefer pragmatism to aesthetics. Even though it's one of those things that no one really looks forward to buying, I can say I'm proud of my purchase and made the right decision by calling Athens Roofing.
