Insurance Agencies
My service so far has not been so great. At this point I am a victim of a poor home inspection. When we originally bought our home, we had a home inspection done. The inspector was negligent and dismissed some rot on the floor as nothing when it turned out to be a lot of water damage and mold. I did not even find this out until June the 7th so I called the agent to file a claim for the mold and water damage. They told me that they could not help me with the claim as it was a pre-existing condition. There is nothing in the contract that states this is a requirement, plus I didn't even find out about it until June 7th. Now they are not working with me at all, and they won't even help me work with the inspector's insurance.
I found a clause in the insurance policy which states that if the water damage and mold is unknown to the insure and is hidden in walls, floors, or ceilings then it would not be an exclusion. That meant to me it was covered. The adjuster from Traveler's (Todd Edmisten) came over on July 1st and the mold inspector was there as well explaining all the problems. Again they denied the claim stating it was preexistiing in addition to not paying attention to the Georgia provision. My belief is that they were looking for any excuse to deny the claim. I have read on another website that other insured people with Traveler's have also had their claims denied. On the internet it states that Traveler's made 26 billion dollars in revenue for 2012 and it's obvious they made this revenue by denying legitimate claims. If they had helped me to make the repairs they could've subrogated with the insurance of the home inspector, but they chose to not to help me. So my suggestion to everyone if you're considering Traveler's Insurance, it might be best to travel to another insurance company considering their treatment of me.
I continued to try to get them to help me, but what they did was hire an expensive law firm in Atlanta to write me a 3 page letter. They seemed to be accusing me of fraud. They could have helped me with the money spent on the law firm. They seem very callous.
