"Thank You, [Member Name Removed]. Small Businesses have a constant struggle with people resources. We are fortunate you selected Stair Solution and the installation team delivered a quality project. Mike"
Right before I emailed to say 'let's do it', I also checked Angie's List. And sure enough 99.9% of the other reviews said the same thing, so we went with them. They just did the install yesterday and it went great. His crew were very professional and courteous. They had a question during the install and Mike came right out to the house to make sure everyone was on the same page. We could not be happier with the result.
There are many stair/railing companies out there and I am sure some are good as well, but my experience says go with what's known and I am here to say Mike at Stair Solutions is awesome!
Thank you for everything. We are extremely happy customers!

Mike provided advice on materials and installation process via email and phone since it was challenging for me to get to the showroom during my research stage. Mike listened to determine what I was trying to do and helped me find a solution. He was quick to offer solutions and send me brochures, pictures and web links. Once I decided on the product, I visited the showroom and used the displays to pick out the porch railing style and color with Cathy. I found both Cathy and Mike to be professional, efficient and resourceful. If you need to replace those rotten pressure treated railings and spindles that the builders install with a long term, maintenance free solution that looks great, call Mike at Stair Solutions.
"We thoroughly enjoyed working for Bill. It's not often your customer supplies a design draft of their home with measurements and a bill of materials for the project. Thank you for your review."
"Hi [Member name removed], Thank you for your kind remarks. We try our best and care about the quality of our work. Thanks, Mike"
I would recommend these guys to everyone I know. Don't let a general contractor do your stairs, call in the experts!
Five days later, the crew arrived, protected everything, and proceeded the remove the old 3 level staircase.
They attached the new newel posts, measured angles, cut, glued, sanded, and attached the the railing.
They then adjusted the the height of the balusters and installed them.
They refinished the railing and applied 3 coats of polyurethane.
Finally, they cleaned up, collected the check and departed.
We are really pleased with the work.
"Thank you for your review. Kathy and the Installation Team work hard to deliver quality projects. Ordering stair parts in advance, then staging the project including pre-stains in our shop allow the Crew to install with less time onsite. This allows more time for the details. We appreciate your business."
Cost: decent. They were a little more than handymen, but they did a much better
Professionalism: poor. The guys who performed the work were great, but Kathy Westmoreland (who runs the office) was embarrassingly unprofessional. First of all, Stair Solution refused to visit my house for a quote, instead Kathy asked for pictures to base her estimate. This required an unnecessary amount of work on my end: I took pictures, sent them, she attempted to count the number of balusters (they were already removed, so we only had holes), her count was wrong so we iterated until things seemed right (but of course, neither of us really knew because she had never seen them, and I was out of town as we iterated on the count).
We also had a problem with the work. I initially sent a request asking for a quote that included top shoes and bottom shoes. Kathy provided a quote (really just a price in an email text - not a pdf). We iterated on that price as the baluster count changed, she sent another price in an email, which I agreed to (again in an email text - not a pdf). It turns out, there as an "unwritten understanding" that neither price included top shoes because "we never add them" and we should "focus on the design." This is despite selling top shoes in their store. Problem is that I did not realize the unrequested change until during the install (otherwise, their bid vs. others was not an apples-to-apples comparison since that's nearly $100 in parts).
The workers called Kathy, who apparently said something to the effect of "tough luck". However, when I asked her to call me via email and though the works, and when I called the store 4 times, she refused to answer. All she did was send an email saying "We cannot change the job" and refused to reply to additional emails. The workers said that either she or the owner (Mike) were the only ones who could fix anything. So we sat there, in a stand-off: the workers unable to add the top shoes without Kathy or Mike's approval, I was unwilling to pay without speaking to Mike or Kathy or without top shoes, and Kathy refusing to speak to me (to remind you: she answered when workers called, but did not answer when my phone number came up on the caller ID).
It's really a shame - I've heard good things about this company. If everything works out perfectly, they're a good place to do business. But if there's any mistake at all, expect the cold shoulder and 0 customer service.
"Our quality and Professionalism should be “A”. When [member name removed] contacted Stair Solution, he told us he fired another installer for many reasons including: loss confidence, using the wrong materials and they did not have a method to install extended length Custom Iron Balusters. After reviewing all Communications with [member name removed], there was never a mention of using Top Bannister Shoes; the item was not listed on the Estimate nor the Invoice. Our Showroom includes fourteen (14) Staircase Displays with NO Top Bannister Shoe. We do not recommend the top shoe unless specified. In contacting us [member name removed] required the best/cheapest price and a weekend installation. Saturday we have Showroom hours from 10am to 2pm, but because one person handles the Showroom we typically are not available to handle telephone calls. After the installation was “complete” [member name removed] (home all day and watching the installation progress) asked why Top Shoes were not installed and he told the Crew to remove the Iron (very strange). When the Crew contacted me I authorized an additional discount of $ 100 which pleased [member name removed]. Important to note; in future reviews, please do not use employee’s full names. Privacy is an utmost concern and they need not have their names plastered all over the Internet."
