MATTHEW'S LANDSCAPING

Our lawn had not grown well with Bermuda due to many areas of shade and poor grading in the lawn. It was decided that Zoysia Shade sod would be the best (and most expensive) sod for the lawn and that the entire yard needed to be re-graded and the soil prepared. The Matthews Landscaping owner spent minimal time at the job and I had the have the workers contact him about 3 times to come out. When I brought this up to the Matthews Landscaping owner, he said he had other jobs he was working and that he could not spend all his time at this job and that his workers had been with him for many years. Upon completion of the job on Saturday, March 24th, the workers left and my phone line had been cut from their work in the yard. I called the Matthews Landscaping owner and he did not return my call. I had to call the phone company to repair my phone line. The following month, we had an accumulation of water in my garage. we contacted the Matthews Landscaping owner and he came out and realized that it was the PVC pipe from the A/C unit and that the pipe had been cracked from when the workers moved the pipe to connect it to the underground drain. The owner came out and fixed the problem the following week. Our BIGGEST PROBLEM and reason for taking the time to not only post but also SEEK LEGAL COUNSEL is because of the following. We are now three months after the job was completed and we have a lawn with multiple dead spots in the midst of beautiful grass. We have areas of sod that are not the purchased Zoysia sod, but rather Bermuda sod. When questioned about this (after multiple unsuccessful attempts to reach him and over 30 days passing) the owner of Matthews Landscaping finally stated we asked for a mix of sod in the front yard and that we must not be watering properly. We've been fertilizing this new lawn through a professional lawn service and they even indicated that the problem was not due to lack of water and that we needed to have Matthews Landscaping come look at it. In addition, its apparent after a few months of growth, that the soil was not prepped for new grass. We have Bermuda grass growing up through the Zoysia sod and throughout the flower beds. Our lawn that is supposed to be all Zoysia is bare in many spots and has more and more Bermuda growing as the days pass. The owner of Matthews Landscaping was combative and defensive on the phone. He has emphatically out stated he will not fix the yard.
