These guys might do good work, but their customer service/accomodations leave a lot to be desired for. If you work full time, you cannot schedule an oil change during lunch and last appointment is at 4PM, so that the guys can "go home." Don't we all?! Plus I still hear some noise after the last work that was done and it is impossible to schedule a quick check up-service without working around their schedule
I'm very impressed with their diagnostic capability, especially with electrical systems.
I first brought my 2006 Solara in to them in 2009 and they explained that Toyotas took special "Toyota" coolant, which is used full strength since it is already diluted. Since I hac not been doing that, they flushed the cooling system and installed the correct fluid. They also recommended a transmission flush at every 50,000 miles, which I had them do. They corrected a rattle that was becoming very annoying.
They explain what your vehicle needs, perform the work professionally and charge a reasonalbe price.
First, I know they are trustworthy: Before my last service (at a different shop), I knew I needed the transmission flushed. But for some reason that shop didn't have the cost on the receipt, so I had assumed they forgot to do it. So, when I took my car to Japanese Automotive recently, one of the items I mentioned to them was that I knew I needed a transmission flush. But after dropping the car off, they quickly called me back to say that the transmission fluid looked new, so it didn't need changing.
They also quickly located the cause of a noise that my car had been making since it was 6months old. Several other shops I had taken it to couldn't find the cause, but Japanese Automotive found it right away (related to the struts).
I knew my struts were due for replacement, so I asked them to take a look. I figured they wouldn't have the parts on hand, but they did, and stated that even when they don't have something, they can usually get parts from nearby dealerships within 40min or so.
Long story short, my car feels like new again.... quiet, smooth ride. And the guys at Japanese Automotive were very professional and helpful (gave me and my wife a ride to a restaurant while we waited), and everything was done much faster than I was expecting.
