We have purchased, sold, and refinanced several homes over the past 20 years, and this was by far the most frustrating loan process we have ever endured. Nothing seemed to go smoothly, from this firm?s struggle to run credit checks to its unsolicited personal opinions regarding the terms of the Purchase Agreement. We were especially frustrated when the loan process was repeatedly bogged down by ?problems? that never materialized. In real estate terms, this was an uncomplicated transaction: few contingencies, highly-qualified buyers, and a property so solid that the appraisal was waived. Yet, it was anything but smooth, and we never felt that the loan process was competently managed. In hindsight, we should have risked moving the closing date in order to switch lenders mid-transaction. We felt throughout that process that this firm?s focus was on trying to earn kudos from its lending company and on assigning blame for ?problems? rather than on serving its clients professionally and steering the process toward closing. Every question or small concern seemed to be elevated to the status of ?crisis.? If the broker responds to this review, we would expect the same deflection tactics that we endured throughout the loan process. We usually only post positive reviews, but in this case, we feel that loans are just too important to fail to warn people about the terrible experience we had. We would highly recommend employing another broker or lender: the frustration and drama are just not worth it.
