"First let me state we never proclaimed to be an earthcraft builder but we do build to earthcraft standards, as a former employee of Hedgewood Homes, we spearheaded the earthcraft program in the Atlanta area. The home would have been earthcraft certified upon completion. The home was constructed to contract and plan specifications up to insulation which was a contract conflict on our part which read batt insulation in the specifications but blown celulose in the contract. We agreed to change out the insulation when i was approached on site about the error. All went down hill from there. The homeowner brought in a Home Inspector without prior notice and without notifying us as the builder as stated in their contract and without providing proper credentials or proof of insurance. This was the first breach of contract. The inspector wrote a 23 page report of items that would typically be found in any home prior to insulation such as foaming holes between floors, clearance issue, etc. All these issues were corrected contrary to owners statement, home passed county inspection and there were no outstanding code violations which can be verified by the county or home inspector issues and if i could recall the company would not recomend anyone to use. in regard to the financials. per the CONTRACT, the owner agreed to a payment schedule that their bank would not adhere to. The owner agreed to make up the difference when draws were requested. the eventually refused to honor the agreement in the contract so the contract was terminated by us based on failure to honor the contracted payment agreement and also the breech of contract due to the home inspection. no monies were received nor requested over and above the work completed. the banks work on a progress payment schedule which requires a bank official to physically inspect progress according to the request for payment. this avoids a building from being overpaid or paid for work or materials not complete or delivered."
