Thank you Robert for investigating the problem, explaining my problem and suggesting the best and most cost effective way to solve it! They will be coming out again this week to finish so I'll try and give a follow up review. Thanks!

We recently had our 1/2 acre backyard cleared of trees, tilled, smooth graded, and seeded with wheat straw put down to protect it. Next, we hired Aquatron to install a sprinkler system. We had a tropical storm the day before they came to do the work. Our backyard was extremely soft and wet. I was surprised they showed up. Now I wish they hadn't. Although I was working from home, the crew left at the end of the day without even knocking on the door. They just left! No one showed me how the system worked, and they didn't even program the controller. When I went outside to have a look, my heart sank. It was a giant, muddy mess. There were deep ruts and gullies in the yard, and large clumps of clay and rocks everywhere. It looked like they got their trench digger stuck in a few places too and just spun the tires until they got it unstuck. We contacted Aquatron the next day. The owner called me back, and said he was sending someone out to fix our yard. Two workers from the install arrived without proper tools. One of them told me he knew they'd done a bad job and he would try to fix it. They tried to smooth things out with hand shovels for about an hour and a half. They also asked to borrow a stiff rake from me, which they broke and didn't tell me. It started raining again and they wanted to leave. They asked me if the yard was okay. It was a little better, but what are two guys with a couple of shovels and a broken rake going to do about a 1/2 acre of uneven mud while it's raining? We have large swaths of our lawn where the grass never came in due to the crew stomping and sliding equipment around in the mud. We got a quote from our landscaping company for $1500 to repair the damage caused by Aquatron and replant new grass. I should note too, that the owner had assured us there'd be no damage to our yard. No one ever called me back to ask if we were satisfied either, they just sent the bill. We also noticed the crew left water bottles, food containers and dirty napkins (we hope, as it looks like toilet paper) in our yard. It's clear they didn't care. We would definitely not recommend this company. Do yourself a favor and do not use them.

Charged excessive amount for trip charge and did not perform any repairs. Very unprofessional, surprised that this company is listed on Angie's List. Not good

Sod installer said the way aquatron set the zone up would not provide adequate coverage for the new sod. I can probably see where that might be subjective. So, I'll give them a 'pass' on that. What isn't subjective is that after the tech left, I found water coming out of a sprinkler head near the foundation of the house. I had to shut down the entire system to get the water to stop. One can only speculate where the continuous flow of water would have gone (into the basement?) had I not discovered the problem. I called aquatron and explained the situation. They promised to send a tech out to fix it and the first hour of labor would be free. That was on a Thursday. Not hearing back from them by the end of work day on Friday, I called another company in to fix the problem. New sod, couldn't wait any longer.

They finally got the system operational, but at a cost of over $2000. We we overcharged for the time Jimmy spend relaxing and smoking his cigars, and additional time as well. When I complained about overcharging, Jimmy admitted he should have charged less and agreed to a refund, but then never told Dena about it. One month later, after many many calls, both Jimmy and Dena together on a conference call agreed to mail me a refund check but the check never arrived.
Response from AQUATRON IRRIGATION INC
"In response to Member’s comments: Aquatron’s business relationship with Member began September 13, 2011, when he called in to have an estimate for his irrigation system. He stated he needed an estimate to get his system up and running because the system is very old. We scheduled the estimate and met with his wife on September 20, 2011, and emailed the estimate to him the following day. The estimate was in the amount of $800.00-900.00, and Member approved the work. The work was scheduled on September 29, 2011, per Mrs. Isaac’s request. The system was operational and completed. The invoice was billed and we received a check on 10/14/2011. There was never any mention that the system did not work or had any problems. Almost six months later, Member called for service on March 23, 2012. He stated the system would not come on and controller kept going thru zones but no water coming out. Also, he said he had some construction work done and they may have hit the irrigation. Per his request we scheduled the service call on April, 11, 2012. Jim, who is over service and not the owner, arrived at call and discovered the common wires to system were cut somewhere causing the system not to operate properly. While attempting to locate the cut common wires the batteries on his wire tracer went dead and he was unable to finish. We rescheduled the call on April 14, 2012 technician Gerardo located the cut wires, checked the system and replaced three rotor heads in front yard that were broken from being ran over or not turning. Member knew about and showed Gerardo the broken heads. Gerardo checked the system and all zones were activating. Member saw all zones working as he was there watching from the window. On April 16th, Member called back stating the zones in the far back were not working. On April 26th our technicians returned and added a valve to replace one that had failed, that they were unable to locate. The system was operational when our technicians left and as far as we are aware it is still operating. All the work performed by Aquatron 6 months after the original repair was to repair construction damage or repair/replace other old irrigation that had failed since the original repair. No return trips to Member home were to repair any of our previous work. It is not uncommon for older systems that have not ran in a long time after being repaired to have one or more problems occur. Additional problems did arise with the irrigation system from equipment that had not been replaced from our original visit. The original estimate from September 20, 2011, does not cover future work that was needed caused by construction damage or additional equipment malfunction. We apologized to Member that he has experienced problems with his older system. Unfortunately with older systems this can happen. When he called in about his invoices, we listened to what he had to say and felt it was only fair to issue credit for the visit on 4/11, $170.00, since the wire tracer had problems. The check was issued on the same day the credit was issued on May 22, 2012. The check was mailed certified mail and accepted by Member. Respectfully Submitted, Craig N. Crouch Owner and President"

They ran up a very large bill by spending a lot of time to find and fix a simple problem. The problem was dirt in the system and the simple fix would have bee to check that first and all it would have taken was a simple cleaning of the filters. In stead they did many more expensive and time consuming things first, and only after none of them fixed the problem I asked them if they checked the filters. The said "no". when they did they found the problem and then cleaned them and the system worked fine, '$1100 later I had a working system.
Then just recently (September 2011) I found that in the process of doing various things one of the things they did is they cut the filter off in the lake that feeds the pump that waters the lawn. The filter that was in the lake was located about 50 feet out into the lake. When they cut it out, they replaced it with a much inferior filter and put it into the lake about 6 feet where the water is very shallow. During this drought the lake water level dropped and the pump lost prime because the level of the lake was now below the foot valve filter. Luckily I noticed and turned the system off before the pump burned up! I called them and asked them to come back and fix it back to the way it was suppose to be. They refused to come back or to do anything to correct the problem.
I had another company come and do it and it cost me an additional $200 to fix their shoddy work!Beware, they are slow and can run up a big bill before you even know it.

We had estimates from various companies and we choose this company. We were very happy with them. Their quote was good and they knew exactly what they were doing, where to place the sprinklers and so on. They were very professional, no trouble whatsoever. The other companies we had that came out were concerned with how they were going to hook the tower switch and stuff. This guy took one look at it and knew what to do. One company wanted us to have new tower line drawn. He just went and had the garage door opener and there is a product in there as we do not have very many outlets. One guy told that we needed twice as many sprinklers than we needed. So this company's quote was not only less but they knew exactly what they were doing. We had no grass so we were trying to get our lawn re-seeded and that needed irrigation and so we were under a time crunch and they just worked at it and it is rare and real. Everything about it was easy. It was helpful. They showed up when they said they would. They got the work done. It took a little longer than they thought but they stayed and I think they were here until 7o' clock at night. They stayed until they finished. They were professional all-round. It was nice to deal with someone who knew what they doing. They were great. We have a fairly big yard and they set it up so that where there is nothing growing, which we did not cover they told us how easy it is for us to come out and add the extra heads without creating a bunch of extra trouble and expense. I would definitely have them in the future.

They came out same day I called. Quoted rate of $110 for first hour. Came on time. Two workers with limited English language. Did a nice job. My only negative was the language issue. Have not received final bill yet. Hass

The service manager was very thorough and very detailed in his explanation about what he is doing. He tried to create a differentiation between his company and others. He clearly understands the competition out there and wants to stand out in terms of providing superior service. The price was a little high, but, they were very accessible and very quick about getting the work done.

One zone of the system was not working and it turned out to be defective valve. They were prompt in making and keeping the appointment and the work was done professionally. The price was for 1.5 hours labor plus the valve. Overall would use them again.

We had a bit of an emergency with our sprinklers... We had a crew here installing a play structure and turned on the sprinklers briefly to identify where the heads were so that the guys could avoid hitting the sprinkler lines. Once we had them turned on, we were unable to shut off the sprinklers and I was unable to locate the valve to shut off the water at the street. I called Aquatron, who had installed and serviced our system, and Lynn was extremely helpful. She tried to walk me through the shut off process and to assist me (by phone) in locating the water meters. When I was unable to shut them off, she called and located the nearest serviceman and got them to come right away. He came and turned it off and looked into the problem (the console). I was extremely appreciative of the urgency with which they responded to my little emergency and I appreciated the professionalism. They have won my business for life!

Aquatron Irrigation stated they were familiar with the Hunter Rain Sensor. When their workmen arrived, I was told they did not work with the Hunter System. They removed my Hunter Rain System and installed another rain sensor that did not work with my Hunter Irrigation System. The workmen did not leave the Hunter Rain Sensor; they took it with them. They did so without my permission or consent. It was never returned to me. I had paid $150 for the original system. If Aquatron believes in customer satisfaction, they should reimburse me the $150 from property they took from me that did not belong to them. The Hunter Rain Sensor has a battery pack that needs to be replaced periodically. The last time I checked on the cost of this pack, it was $29.95. I believe that was the only thing that was wrong with the original Hunter Rain Sensor. I do not recommend this company to anyone.

"IN RESPONSE TO THE MEMBERS COMMENTS. SHE HAD CALLED US MAY 4, 2007, BECAUSE HER WIRELESS RAIN SENSOR WAS NOT WORKING WE TOLD HER WE USE WIRED RAINBIRD RAIN SENSORS, SHE WAS OKAY WITH THAT. WE WENT TO HER HOUSE MAY 15TH AND REPLACED THE FAULTY RAIN SENSOR WITH A NEW WIRED RAIN SENSOR. THEN ON MAY 21ST, MEMBER CALLED STATING THE RAIN SENSOR WAS COMING ON IN THE RAIN, WE WENT BACK OUT MAY 23RD AND WIRED RAIN SENSOR FROM OUTSIDE OF HOUSE TO INSIDE OF HOUSE TO GET DIRECT CONNECTION(SOME CONTROLLERS DON'T UNDERSTAND RAIN SENSORS WIRED OUTSIDE OF HOUSE)NO CHARGE FOR THIS VISIT. SHE CALLED BACK ON JULY 12TH, STATING THE RAIN SENSOR IS NOT WORKING CORRECTLY AGAIN. WE TOLD HER WE WOULD HAVE A TECH OUT RIGHT AWAY, SHE SAYS HER RAIN SENSOR IS UNDER WARRANTY WANTS HER MONEY BACK AND GET THE NEW RAIN SENSOR OUT AND SHE WOULD HAVE ANOTHER COMPANY INSTALL A NEW RAIN SENSOR. WE TOLD HER WE WOULD HAVE SERVICE MANAGER CALL HER BECAUSE SHE WAS VERY UPSET. HE TALKED TO HER THAT HE WOULD COME OUT AND CORRECT THE PROBLEM. WE SCHEDULED THE SERVICE MGR TO GO OUT THE NEXT DAY TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE SHE CANCELED DUE TO AN EMERGENCY AND CALLED US BACK JULY 27TH WE RESCHEDULED FOR AUGUST 2ND. THE SERVICE MGR REPLACED THE RAIN SENSOR WITH THE NAME BRAND SHE HAD BEFORE AND ALL IS WELL. MORAL OF THE STORY NOT ALL SERVICE CALLS GO RIGHT. WE BELIEVE IN CUSTOMER SATISFACTION AND GO ABOVE AND BEYOND TO SATISFY OUR CUSTOMERS. OUR TECHNICIANS SPEAK ENGLISH FLUENTLY IN ORDER TO COMMUNICATE WITH CUSTOMERS."

We particularly liked Pedro from this company. He was great both diagnostically and in terms of the work he did for us. He cared about ensuring that we were always satisfied. This company was one that gave us no problems. They were great to work with and to communicate with. They always checked to see if we were happy and so we really would happily recommend their services to others in our area.

This company is an A+ all the way around. They are the best company I have had for any project. They are phenomenal. The employees are fast, efficient, and they take great pride in their work. All of the employees are shareholders of the company. Their work proved minimal intrusion on my yard. I cannot even tell where the irrigation system lies. It has been extremely helpful during the drought. The company did exactly what they stated in the estimate.

He was very nice and knowledgeable about our system. He discovered a small leak which also needed repairing, but said it would take several hours to locate and repair. I knew this would run up quite a bill, so I told him not to do it, but we would call him back at a later time when we were able to have it done. The only complaint was his punctuality. The office said he would be here between 7:30 and 8:00 am. He arrived at 8:50, which was not too far off schedule.

Craig Crouch, the owner, came to our house to execute the free estimate within two days of my inquiry during ''high season'' (i.e. summer). The other five firms I contacted took at least a week to return the call. Craig was courteous, knowledgeable, and professional. He explained how the system would be set up and the logic behind the design. He was also prompt to return calls regarding questions. Aquatron's price was competitive with other quotes. The crew arrived on time and installed the system as discussed/contracted. For the most part, the system was installed without a trace, but they should have returned my 100' hose as they found it. They wrapped around the hose wheel rather than in a pile in the driveway. Terry Epps, a service rep, contacted me the next day to arrange a demonstration visit. I would highly recommend this firm.

The broken sprinkler head was repaired easily. The workman had the parts and took care of that quickly. I'd also requested that the repairman who was dispatched show me how to program our automatic sprinklers. Unfortunately, he didn't speak English very well and I couldn't understand most of what he said. So, that part of the job was completely useless for me. But, if you just need some manual labor, this company did fine.
