"It didn't. I found him on Home Advisor. He called me a day later. We talked about what I wanted and he gave me a quote over the phone. This was April 26th. We had baby birds on my front porch so I asked him to call me back the following Monday so we could schedule a time for him to come do my flooring. They were learning to fly and I wanted to give them a chance to leave my porch. That would have been May 3rd. He said he would call between 11 and noon. He NEVER called me back. I just kept waiting. I called and left messages ... nothing. On May 14th, I sent him another message and asked him to call me so we could schedule the appointment. I got nothing. On May 17th, I called again. I immediately had a message from him that stated he couldn't answer the phone at that moment. Funny how I got the text as I was leaving the message. He could have answered in the time it took him to write the message. He said he had been very busy and that is why he hasn't called. He wanted me to give him a day for him to come but I told him I needed to talk to him so we could look at our schedules. I got nothing. On May 25th, I again called and text. I explained that I needed to ask for vacation so I would be there at the house. Here it is May 27th and I still can't get the man to call me and talk for 5 minutes. I don't think it is very professional of him to treat me this way. If he doesn't want to do the job then just say that and let me move on. I'm not in a huge rush but I don't like being ignored. So ... I am giving up on Bravo Flooring and Mr. John. Please tell him that."

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

There are a couple of color options to consider when installing carpet in high-traffic areas (like entrances and stairways). Medium-toned colors and patterned carpets can work well in these parts of your home because dirt and stains can blend in easily. Dark carpets will also conceal marks and spills, but they show lint and other light-colored debris. Consider a medium brown or tan for your high-traffic areas. Either way, it’s best to avoid paler shades, like white and cream, which get dirty easily.

Carpet tiles are less expensive than traditional carpet. The average cost of carpet installation is $1,800, or $3 to $11 per square foot. In comparison, carpet tiles cost $2.50 to $11 apiece and can often be bought in bulk cartons. Since you can more easily DIY carpet tiles, you may be able to save on installation costs, too.

Nylon carpet is one of the longest-lasting carpet types available. It holds up to wear and tear and resists staining. Plus, its synthetic composition means it’s available in a huge range of colors and styles. Given the choice between low-pile carpet and high-pile carpet, the low-pile carpet will last longer, thanks to its tight loops and dense structure.

If you have a concrete subfloor, you must secure the carpet padding with adhesive or glue. However, if you have a wooden subfloor, use staples instead. Removing a glued-down carpet can be difficult and time-consuming, so it’s best to avoid glue when possible.

Carpet tiles come with a preexisting adhesive backing, which means installing them is as simple as peeling off the paper and sticking them down where they need to go. In other words, no. You won’t need to purchase any separate glue to get your carpet squares situated. It’s already built into the carpet tile itself.
