Jason (the owner/service provider) came to our house to sharpen 8 blades -- the deal is he'll come to your place for a minimum of $40 ($5 per blade, 8 blades). He also goes to Marietta Square on Saturdays and sharpens knives/blades for $5 each. (He also handles knife sharpening for many restaurants, he told me.)
His work is speedy and the knives ended up very sharp and clean. He uses a belt sharpening process which he keeps in the back of his truck, and then polishes/finishes by hand.
He'd run late the morning he was due - but he called, apologized, and then showed up when he said he would.
Jason was kind, professional, and did a great job with the knives (all kitchen knives).
Highly recommend.

We have a great set of kitchen knives, purchased about 20 years ago, which we've never had professionally sharpened. After finding Mr. Jones through Angie's list, I gave him a call to learn about his service and the process. Simple enough, so I drove the 13 or so miles to his shop and he accommodated me right away. He's friendly and very professional and, while he was working, allowed me to watch; he also answered a lot of questions I've always had about caring for fine cutting instruments. The bottom line is that I couldn't be more pleased with his work and the price was extremely reasonable. I know where to go next time and will not wait 20 years before the next major service on our knives. I highly recommend this establishment!

Called and scheduled for them to come to my location. They gave me times they were available and I had them come to my office. They showed up when they said they would and did. Took the knives from my car and did the sharpening in the parking lot. After an hour they were done. Travis did a great job and was nice to deal with.

We called Jones Sharpening to sharpen our kitchen knives after looking around at a lot of services and were swayed by the fact that Jones because they would come to our house (which made it easier with an infant). They have a nice website, Facebook page and some good reviews and professional looking videos. However, they did not show up to our first appointment and when I called an hour after the 3 hour window that I waited for him he said that "someone called and canceled an appointment that morning and he just assumed it was us". He E-mailed the next day to offer a -25% discount and smaller window if we would give him another chance, which we did.He showed up right on time and was very nice, but when I got our knives back they were scuff marks and scratches all over them. all the tops of the knives had been sanded along the top edge for some reason and several of the blades had notches in them from sloppy work on the belt sander he used. The knives are VERY sharp, but esthetically they are destroyed. To be fair our set of Henckels knives are not worth a million dollars, but they were given to me by my Uncle before he passed and have a lot of sentimental value, which was another reason I liked the idea of having someone come to the house vs sending them off. It really looks like someone tossed our knife set and belt sander in a dryer and let them tumble for an hour.. We did not contact them to make repairs to our knives and we will never let them near anything of ours again. I would not recommend that anyone use this service.

Travis has a mobile sharpening service and does the work on-site. (He also accepts mail-in jobs and pays the return mailing costs himself). He gave me a two-hour time frame for arrival--between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm--and promised to make it as close to 2:00 as he could. He arrived promptly at 2:00, took all my dull equipment out to his truck and brought it back about an hour later. Everything cut like new (actually, in many cases better than new). I'm a seamstress, and my scissors are expensive to buy and useless when the edge is gone, so the $6 sharpening charge is well worth it. Overall, Travis charged between $5 and $7 per item (the big limb loppers were $7) and he de-rusted and lubricated the garden tools in the process. He is personable, professional and good at what he does, and I will certainly call him again. It is so much more convenient to have the work done at my own location instead of dropping it off somewhere, waiting a week, then going back to pick it up. I highly recommend Jones Sharpening.
